Chapter 223: Escape

"You are done for, Mister Vergo." Law stood up.

"Now you remember your manners, boy?" Vergo took out a bamboo stick and covered it in armament haki, turning it completely black.

"Is Joker listening?" Asked Law but Vergo did not answer.

"Well, no matter, his plans are ruined. He is about to lose his most trusted subordinate, Caesar is probably captured already, all that is left is to destroy this room."

Vergo was visibly clenching his teeth.

He then removed his long coat, revealing his well-toned physique. When he covered his skin in haki, it became all black and shiny like metal, giving him a very intimidating aura.

"Did you have to piss him off further?" Tashigi(Vivi) wondered what Law was trying to accomplish with that. Their victory was not assured at all.

"Room…switch!" A long sword disappeared from Franky's (Tashigi) back and repealed in his hands.

Law smiled. "I missed you," he told his sword. 

"What, how did you get that?!" Franky(Tashigi) looked at her back, where she had secured the sword.

Vergo moved towards Law at a tremendous speed for a man of his size. 

But Law was more than ready, he used his ability to cut Vergo in half at his waist.

Before the two halves touched the ground, Law had already cut them into even more pieces.

Franky(Tashigi) gasped. 

"You cut him into pieces!"

"What a terrifying ability….he didn't have a chance." RealizedTashigi(Vivi).

Now that Vergo did not have the advantage of harming Law with his heart.

"He was a bad match for me, that's all. And you can't really speak about terrifying abilities, to be honest." Law looked at her.

"Yeah well, I don't feel very powerful at the moment,  I'm all broken." She tried to chuckle but with her broken ribs, she started to cough blood instead.

"Be more careful with my body, I want it back in one piece."

Franky(Tashigi) walked to where Law and Vivi were. When she passed by the detached head of Vergi, she saw his eyes looking at her.

"Oh my God, he is still alive!" 

"Of course. I'm a doctor first. I don't kill unless I have no other choice. " Law looked at Franky.

"You can shoot lasers and stuff, right? Can you destroy those tanks over there?" He pointed at the giant container with the word S.A.D written on it.

"You know this is not my body, how am I supposed to do that? And why should I destroy those tanks? What's in them?" She asked.

"These tanks contain Caesar's most important experiment. The S.A.D gas can be used to create artificial devil fruits. Joker has been using these fake devil fruits to trade with an Emperor."

"What?, that's…" She looked at the tanks.

"Fine, let's destroy them. But I don't know how to use this body."

"Most of Franky's weapons are analogic.  Look for buttons that you can press." Said Tashigi(Vivi).

"A button?... yes, I think I saw something like that…here." She pressed something on her shoulder. Something resembling a small cannon came out of her right shoulder and shot a tiny missile.

This one flew straight towards Tashigi's (Vivi) face. She barely managed to move before it reached her. The missile continued its path and impacted the wall at the back of the room.

"Boom!" a massive hole appeared on the wall the cold wind immediately started to carry snow inside.

"Where are you aiming?!, you almost killed me, no wait, let me rephrase that, you almost killed yourself!" Yelled Tashigi(Vivi).

"I'm sorry!, I didn't know it was going to shoot right away. Whoever built this, did not care much about safety…" Franky looked a bit paler.

"Okay…wait until we are ready to leave before doing that again…" a drop of sweat fell across Law's face.

"Uggg…" Tashigi moaned in pain as she stood back up.

' I had forgotten how much it sucks to have a normal fragile body that does not regenerate in seconds.'

Franky(Tashigi) approached the body of the old captain and picked him up.

Law saw this but did not remark on it. Instead, the started to walk to the door.

"Here." Tashigi(Vivi) took off her long jacket and used it to cover the body of the old man.

"Thanks."

Frank's eyes moved to the pieces of Vergo.

"Wait, what about him?"

Law shrugged.

"If we leave him there when we blow up the tanks, he will certainly die!, What happened with the 'I'm a doctor first'?" Franky(Tashigi) looked at Law.

"I don't want to kill. But I don't have to save him either. If he happens to die then... so be it." 

Franky(Tashigi) clenched her fist and looked at the bundle in her arms.

"I also want him dead for what he did to Captain Sebastian…but this is not right. He deserves a trial and to pay for all his crimes!"

Law grumbled something they couldn't hear before he placed all the pieces of Vergo inside his own coat and carried it like a sack.

"Let's go already, Joker may be coming."

"Don't forget my sword!" Shouted Franky at Vivi.

"I can't believe how you threw it earlier… that sword is one of the Meito!"

They stopped at the door and turned back to look at the room.

"I'll do it. "

Franky(Tashigi) had her hands occupied so Tashigi(Vivi) aimed her shoulder in the right direction this time and pressed the button.

Another missile came out and impacted the main tank at the center. The gas inside exploded in a ball of flame that was starting to engulf the entire room.

"Run!"  Tashigi(Vivi) did her best to ignore the pain in her leg and hurried out of the laboratory.
