Chapter 216: The Gas man

The main doors opened and a group of armed men wearing gas masks came out of the building.

"Master!, Please, leave these individuals to us!"

"Yes, there is no need for you to be here, is dangerous!"

The men looked at their Master with worry. 

"Caesar!" Called the Vice-admiral.

"You!, are you the Master?" Luffy stared at the strange man on top of the ship.

"Shololo!, indeed I am, Strawhat Luffy. " 

His eyes then moved to Gion.

"It's been a while, Vice-Admiral. I still remember fondly your last visit to this place. Although,  everything looked very different back then."

"What are you and Doflamingo doing on this island?!. You better answer me or else…" Gion looked at with with anger in her eyes. 

"Oh….how scary!" Caesar joked.

"Ahhh!" one of the masked men started to scream when a small piece of the slime fell on top of him and started to dissolve his body.

"Master, help!" The man yelled.

Caesar just stared at the occurrence with an unsettling smile.

"You will have to forgive my little pet, it's been a while since the last time it came out to play, I believe it's been…four years."

The bits of the slime kept falling down and grouping together, increasing the size of the creature.

"Once all the pieces are here, I'll show something very interesting. " Caesar laughed once more.

Luffy did not want to wait any longer and jumped on Caesar, grabbing him by the waist.

"Got you!" 

"Get off me, you bastard!" Caesar shouted.

"Let go of the master!" The masked men pointed their guns at Luffy but were unable to shoot since their Master was too close.

"Is he using haki? is amazing that he can grab a logia user like that!". Sanji(Franky) stared at his captain.

"Yes, but armament haki only allows you to 'touch' a substance, it does not nullify the abilities like seastone does." Robin pointed out.

"Its a bad idea to get so close to Caesar." It was Gion the one who spoke.

"What do you mean?" Asked Brook.

"And what kind of panties are you wearing?"

He added.

Gion gave the skeleton a nasty look.

"Caesar ate the 'gas gas ' logia fruit. He can create extremely toxic gases, and…none of your business."

"Gomu gomu no…" Luffy threw his head backward and applied a layer of armament haki to his forehead while still holding onto Caesar.

"bell!"

His head passed through the empty space left behind after the scientist modified the shape of his body, avoiding the attack.

"Gas robe!" A cloud of gas came out his sleeves and was aimed for Luffy's head.

This one tried to hold his breath but ended up swallowing some of the gas.

"Shulolo, go on, breathe in. My gases are the most lethal substances in the world !"

Luffy's face changed color and had to let go of Caesar.

"Captain!"

"Luffy!"

Robin caught Luffy before he fell to the ground and looked at his condition.

His face was getting purple and he seemed to be in a lot of pain.

The crew was ready to continue the fight when Gion stopped them.

"Leave Caesar to me, take your Captain to your crew doctor, he should be able to save him!"

"She is right, We need to take him to Chopper, he will know what to do." Said Robin.

"I'll take him. I can run super fast!" Sanji(Franky) placed Luffy over his shoulder and wasted no time in leaving.

"You two!" Gion shouted to Tashigi and Sebastian, the old Captain.

"Don't just stand there, the door is open, go do your job!"

The two of them nodded and ran inside the building, having to knock out several of the masked men who got in their way. Their mission was to find documents about the experiments that were taking place in the laboratory as well as evidence of Doflamingo involvement.

Caesar made a move to chase after Luffy, wanting to take the opportunity to remove a future threat, but he was instead welcomed by a mass of green liquid.

"Are you going to defend some pirates? What kind of marine are you?" Questioned the scientist.

"I will do what I think is necessary to uphold my justice, and right now, they are the lesser of two evils," Gion spoke with conviction.

"I feel offended, I am nothing but a humble scientist!" Caesar smiled.

"I saw those children that you were holding here!" 

Caesar's smile disappeared from his face.

"It was briefly, but I noticed that several of them were quite big, almost giant size. It reminded me about an old research, one that you and Vegapunk were very involved with…something about creating giants. That research was ended because of how inhumane the experiments were." She recalled.

"Creating giants?" Robin said with horror at the idea.

"Inhumane?" Caesar chuckled.

"You think the government would end research for a silly reason like that? It was canceled because of a lack of results. However, a few years back, I thought of something.  Instead of using adults who had already finished their growing period, what if we use young children who are still growing? and stimulate that grow…sholololo. No one can deny the results!"

"The children weren't sick?"

"Master has been experimenting with children? that can't be true, right?"

The masked men looked at Caesar in disbelief.

"What a monster…" Said Brook.

"This guy makes most pirates look like angels." Added Buggy.

"You are nothing but a madman." Spat Gion.

"A madman you say?, please. If the W.G. knew about my discoveries, they would welcome me back with open arms. Unfortunately for them, I have another benefactor now. " Caesar said.

It was then that Gion noticed something strange about his behavior. He seemed to be more interested in talking than fighting and he was sharing information that could be very detrimental to him, once she informed her superiors at Headquarters. There was only one conclusion she could reach at this point.

'He is stalling for time…'
