Chapter 169: With an Admiral on their tail

They traveled for a few more hours through the Balm Belt with no issues.

“We are almost there!” Exclaimed Nami.

“Our crew should be close to the border, waiting for us.” Said Marco with excitement to see his friends again.

“They told us that they have a lot of company with them but did not want to explain more than that.”

“Is probably Master Ivankov and some of my comrades. They also said to be waiting there.” Inazuma concluded.

“Oi!” Buggy entered the room. He was sweating profusely and looked to be in a panic. “There is a marine ship behind us! I think is that Admiral’s ship!”

“They followed us?” Exclaimed Nami.

“That guy is alive?” Vivi asked.

‘I guess I was expecting too much…and Admiral would not die that easily.’

“He is” Said Inauzma. “After you pulled him into the waters, his men rushed to his rescue. I saw some of them taking him out and rushing back to their ships as we were leaving.”

“He must be very pissed then” commented Ace with a smile.

Luffy chuckled. “Yeah!...that guy was very scary when he came after us, two years ago.”

“This is not the moment for this! what are we going to do?!” Buggy was in full panic mode.

“There is no wind here…” Said Nami. “If we want to run away from them, we need to paddle faster. Morley is the only one moving the ship at the moment.”

“We’ll paddle then. I don't want to fight an Admiral in the middle of the Calm Belt.” Said Marco.

“Let's go guys!” Shouted Luffy.

“What's going on?” Sanji just came in while carrying two trays of food.

“Wait!, lunch is here! Let's eat first” Suggested Luffy.

“Just take the food and go already” Nami started to kick Luffy in the ass.

“What did I miss?” Asked the cook, trying not to look directly at Vivi. He has grown accustomed to avoiding staring directly at the girls and it was becoming an automatic reflex.

Not that Vivi was wearing anything too revealing. She was currently wearing brown boots, jeans, and a black shirt. 

Nami had found a wardrobe filled with female clothes in one of the rooms. They didn't ask but it seemed very obvious who these belonged to.

“Well, apparently Admiral Kizaru has come to pursue us. The guys are going to paddle for a bit so we can get away faster. I would love to help but I have been told by the doctor to stay put…”

“That guy is still chasing us?...and he looked so lazy the last time I saw him.”

Vivi chuckled. “I know right? I guess even a lazy guy has its limits.”

“How long until we leave these waters?” Asked Vivi to Nami.

The two of them were the only ones in the navigation room. Everyone else was trying to move the ship as fast as they could.

Kizaru’s ship had remained very close to them but had yet to catch up.

“We are extremely close…maybe ten more minutes. We should be seeing something already!. Maybe I made a mistake in my calculations”

Vivi felt a painful stinging sensation as she made use of her observation haki, but she was able to keep her facial expression from changing in order to not alert Nami of what she was doing.

If she focused on one direction, she could feel the auras of living things tens of miles ahead.

Ignoring the pain, she keep looking ahead until she started to pick up a lot of auras, some of them were very familiar while others were completely unknown.

“You didn't make any mistake. I'm sure that we will make it if we keep the course that you set, and have more trust in yourself.” 

Nami gave her a suspicious look.

“Did you do something?”

“Nop…now, I going outside to take a better look.” Vivi left the cabin before Nami was able to figure anything out.

As she moved to the front of the ship, she was able to see her Captain and the others using paddles at booths sides to move the ship forward. 

In front of them was still nothing but calm waters and the clear sky of the early morning.

“Almost there…” She felt the auras in the distance.

“Noo!, they are gaining on us!” The voice of Buggy could be heard from behind.

Vivi turned her attention to the back of the ship and ran. 

“Shit!, not now.”

Kizaru must have felt the presence of the others too and was now more desperate to catch them than before because he was now very close.

‘What now…I cannot use my pseudo-awakening again for some time otherwise I could truly die…’ She startd to consider the posibilites.

Luffy and Ace came up to the deck and saw it too.

“Tsk!, they caught up to us!, we are going to have to fight.” Said Ace. As much as he wanted to get some payback on the Admiral, he knew that this was not a good place for them to fight.

Luffy also realized this and looked somewhat worried.

“Strawhat!” The amplified voice of Kizaru could be heard.

“Return the prisoner, Portagas D.Ace and we are willing to let the rest of the criminals go…for now.”

“What?!” Luffy frowned. “Have you lost your mind, Old Man?!”

“Let me be the one that fights him, Luffy.” Said Ace while lighting his fists on fire.

Kizaru got on top of his ship’s deck as it approached, preparing himself for the fight too. He knew that Luffy was never going to take that offer but made it just as a small distraction.

Marco came flying too.

“Let me help you! between the two of us, we should be able to do something.”

Vivi came running to them. “Captain! We cannot stop now, we are close t-”

They all heard a tremendously loud noise that must have come from quite a distance away.

Something entered Vivi’s senses and made a shocked expression.

“Those guys are crazy!”

“What is it, Vivi?” Luffy and the others knew that she must have picked up something with her observation haki but didn't know what since they could not reach as far as she did.

She looked behind her and upwards. Luffy saw this and did the same.

“There is something in the sky!” He had to cover his eyes to shield himself from the sun.

“Is coming towards us!” Shouted Inazuma.

“Another enemy?!” Exclaimed Buggy with worry.

Luffy started laughing.

“GAON HO!” The loud shout of Franky resounded over the skies
