Chapter 40: Gaining time

Before He could hit the ground, Enel recovered by turning himself into lighting and moving away.

He then gave Vivi a nasty glare.

“To think that I was considering allowing you to stay at my side…now, I am going to make sure that you die in agony, pirate!”

Enel extended his finger.

“Twenty million volts…Vari!”

“Thundercloud tempo!”

Nami sounded from behind Vivi.  Black clouds formed close to where Vivi was standing and attracted the lighting from Enel toward them.

Vivi turned around to see Nami holding her staff.

“I c-couldn't let you f-fight alone.” Said Nami while trembling.

Vivi smiled. She knew how terrified was Nami, but she still came to her help anyways.

“Thank you, Nami.”

She did not want to waste this opportunity, before Enel could prepare for the next attack, she did her own.

Vivi pushed both her arms forward, separating them from her body. Her arms turned into blobs of water and shot toward Enel.

Enel was taken by surprise by this maneuver as his mantra was not of much help to avoid it.

He can read Vivi's thoughts and knows that she is planning on attaching the blobs of water to him but He won't be able to predict the movement of the water as Vivi could change the direction at any moment.

He decided that it was better to go into the offensive and get rid of them.

Enel pointed at one of the blobs approaching and send a lightning bolt toward it.

Vivi immediately severed the connection with that part of herself so she would not take damage, this came with the cost of losing a big part of her total mass.

She sent a signal to the other blob to speed up and attached itself to Enel's leg.

“What?!, get this disgusting thing off me!” Enel tried to shake it off.

Vivi knew that it was pointless trying to suffocate Enel since He could just turn into lighting and destroy the water. But there was something else she could do. 

She first reformed her arms at the cost of losing some eight. She then started to control the blob with hand movements which increased its speed.

“Go!” She made an upwards movement with her right hand and the blob did the same, shooting itself against Enel's face.

This one was surprised but managed to barely avoid the hit. She then split the blob into two and controlled one with each hand. 

Enel dodged a few of the attacks until one of them hit his leg, making him tumble.

His expression became darker.

“Enough of this charade….Lightning flash!”

Volts of lightning appeared all around Enel, threatening to destroy everything in the vicinity.

‘Oh shit!’ Vivi did not have time to cut the connexion with the water as it was hit by lightning.

“AHHHH!!“ Incredible pain ran through her body and smoke started to come out as her temperature rose.

“Vivi!” Nami cried in worry at seeing her friend fall.

Vivi managed to stay barely conscious and she could already feel her body starting to heal. 

But Enel was not done. He taped one of the drums at this back.

“Thirty million volts...Thunder Bird!”

A Bluebird purely made of light came into existence and flew towards Vivi.

“No…I can't deflect something like that!” Nami watched with impotence as the bird approached Vivi, who still could not move. 

It was in the last moment when Laki appeared, using her shooters, and grabbed Vivi.

“Got you!”

They both moved away before the bird exploded in a ball of blue light that destroyed everything in its past.

Enel was not amused.

“Shandians helping the pirates of the blue sea? I never thought I would see something like that…this is getting tiring!”

In his rage, Enel failed to notice Wiper coming from behind. He hit Enel with his shooters and pushed him down.

Wiper then pressed his right arm against Enel's chest.

“What are you doing? committing suicide? that dial won't work against me!” Enel spat.

“Do you know what seastone is, Enel?” Asked Wiper, and by Enel's worried expression, it seemed like He did know.

“My strength is being drained…” Said Enel in disbelief.

“Eat this!” Related Wiper.

“Wait!, you cant use ‘reject’ against me, You will die too! Don’t you want to live in your own land?” Enel was looking desperate.

“Shut up! I don’t mind dying if I can take you down with me!” 

“Don’t do it!” Enel begged.

“Reject!!!” Wiper activated the dial on his arm, sending a massive shock into Enel's body several times more potent than the ‘impact’ dial and damaging his internal organs. 

Enel spat blood and stopped moving while Wiper managed to barely stand. He was heavily damaged by the backlash of the dial.

“Noo….” Vivi said softly, she still could not move and was resting on Laki's arms.

“He is not dead…” She tried to stand.

Laki was surprised that Vivi could even move at all.

“You shouldn’t move yet, you are too hurt!”

“Enel is not dead! you need to hit him again and aim at the head!” Vivi managed to get out.

Wiper gave her a glance.

“What do you mean?”

“There is no way He survived that, even if He is a God. Besides…Wiper cant use the reject again…He already used it twice. A normal man would have died after one use but even Wiper will not survive three.” Said Laki.

“Then let me use it!. I won't die from that.” Vivi tried to run but her legs were still too weak and she almost fell. Laki had to go to her side to support her.

“You are in no shape to use something like that either.” Said Laki.

They then saw Enel's body being shocked with electricity. 

“What?!” Wiper took some distance from the lightning.

More shocks follow, moving Enel's chest with each one until He started breathing again.

“Noo!, its too late…” Said Vivi in resignation.

“Did he restart his own heart?” Said Nami in shock.

With everyone staring at him in fear, Enel rose once more.

“Mere men cannot make God feel fear…for true terror comes from God and God alone.”
