Came Home To Some Crises (Patreon)

So, family trip to Virginia for my partner's birthday was quite nice. I expected I'd come home and bang out the last things of the month.

What I came home to was a basement flooded - with a significant portion of my Transformeum collection underwater.

On the second floor I discovered that our cat had gotten into our bedroom and peed on everything - including my laptop.

The scope of this has been overwhelming and I'm only now processing some next steps. We can't afford a new sump pump so I've been using a small portable one we had to first empty the basement of the flooded levels and now every morning to drain what the sump had maintained.

I had, fortunately, ordered a small Chromebook before vacation that was on sale and arrived while we were traveling. I am working on side-hacking the programs I need to use while I wait to see if a friend can un-piss my laptop. I have back-ups of material, it is simply having a machine to work on again that is the issue.

In addition to all that while we were gone my mother was taken in for hip replacement surgery two weeks early. That's a good thing in the long term, but it means all of our childcare we'd planned for was thrown in disarray (my parents watch the kiddo while I go to work). I've had to stay home - away from even a work computer to do SOMETHING on - until today.

So, yeah...not a great end/start to a month, but I'll be getting stuff up ASAP.
