It's a bad habit, but every author I know does it. They're knee deep in their current project (and I'm already in the middle of four...) and they think, yeah - but what am I going to work on next?

I've been plagued by those thoughts this week. That makes sense because I've been focused on outlining and reading some pretty great stories. Before I was certain I would be working on Incursion next in November, but now I am not so sure.

The three contenders for my next story are:

  • Incursion - Incursion, as I've mentioned before starts out as lord of the flies game -lit and quickly evolves into full-blown systems apocalypse. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to write this because I didn't think it would be popular, but I also think I'd really enjoy it too.
  • Sineater (working title) - This one could be accused of being a Witcher rip off. It would be more of a classic dark fantasy, and if all went well it would do an excellent job of betraying the readers expectations. It might be a little sad too.
  • Untitled Cultivation Novel - Ever since I had a conversation with a Patron over the weekend I've had an idea stuck in my head about a plant/gardening themed Xianxia cultivation story. The whole thing would definitely be a subversion, but it's slowly growing in my mind like Kudzu.

I'd love to hear your opinions. What is it you'd be most interested to read?

PS: I think I am going to further increase patreon exclusivity to 5 chapters for letter of the law and 10 chapters for Tenebroum. Eventually Golemancer will get 5 chapters of buffer too, though right now with the writeathon I just post as many as I have.

So - look forward to that on Monday.
