Shin is throwing his life away cos he has nothing to live for. He's directionless. To just continue living as the Reaper, where he kills his comrades (to prevent them from being taken into the Legion) and be the one thats always left behind. That isn't exactly a life. But he has nothing else driving him. He had his goal of killing and saving his brother from the Legion... now what? Lena seems to be dead too. So what else is there grounding him as a reason to keep living? His comrades are there sure, but this is war and eventually they will die and leave him behind too. So what's the point?
