Tadhana's Homecoming Outfit + Convention Season Is Upon Us! (Patreon)

Today's post is a seriez of ruminations on the incalculable amount of time I spent wondering if Tadhana's lack of interest in returning to her own time period means she's assimilating more anachronistic fashions while at HH.... and also OH MY GOD I'M DOING CONS THIS YEAR?!?!

Let's talk PIRATE FASHION!

• Tadhana's a Southeast Asian (Filipina/Peranakan/Indonesian) pirate from the late 1600s who mainly pirated around the Malacca Strait, which means she's MOSTLY accustomed to that region's piracy fashionz~ as well as the primary point of colonial aggression/fashion influence being from Spain and England (this last one is stretching it, because I grew up in a British colony and I kinda wanted to somehow tie this in to the British naval empire thing, so she'd have an extra reason to hate Henry as well as being united in their derision of Spain, lmao.)
• History High is all about mashup anachronism so I felt like giving Tadhana a mermaid dress in sea-glass green (with plenty of sparkles!) was appropriate. She's got the typical stick n poke shipmates tattoos, and typically doesn't wear girly stuff or skirts so it's a chance to show them off (yeah Tad's usually in shorts too but.... let her have this). Thus, also, the Super Sick Leather Jacket, because Tadhana is preoccupied with looking like a badass, and that means different things in different times/places.
• The flower in Tad's hair is a frangipani! It's just my favorite flower and you can't really find them in my part of the US but they're fucking everywhere where Tadhana and I are from. They smell AMAZING.
• Tadhana's formal jewelry is very much plundered from merchant ships/stuff she's kept from her pirate days. (The shoes are a strappy golden 90's number).
• And yeah I put a lot of thought into Magnus's chef's kiss outfit, too! He's "trying not to take Homecoming too seriously" thus the dumb tuxedo t-shirt, but he KNOWS Tadhana would want him to dress up a little or she'll feel fucking disrespected (hey, it's a special night! And Tad has a super secret romantic underside.) So he's wearing his metal best, including some sick armor, and I aged him down a bit with that hot pink Hot Topic emo kid belt with studs/a skull and crossbones buckle.

WHEW. Also the dress was black but honestly Tadhana had to pop, Magnus is totally second fiddle.
