Hello Primos!! 

Welcome to our TIER 2 preview!! This will be the first episode of a show we've been hearing so much about!! We can't to discuss it with all of you. We can tell this is going to be a lot of fun. 

Note: For these Patreon exclusive episodes, it'll just be us hanging out with little to no editing. As raw as it gets. Hope you guys don't mind 😅. But just relax and come hang out with us.

Wearing masks is very normal in Asia, long before Covid. A lot of the time it’s because of the air pollution/dust, prevent spreading germs, or if they haven’t shaved or put makeup on. Or they just don’t feel like showing their face 🤣

Sorry for the confusion. The $3 is the difference if you switch to tier 2 after already being charged for tier 1. Some were thinking they would be charged $2 and then $5 as soon as they switched

If you've already been charged for Tier 1 this month, joining Tier 2 will only charge the difference based on how many days are left. So in this case, $3 is the max amount you’ll be charged. But if you only have a few days before your next charge date it’ll be closer to $1. And then the following charge will occur on your normal charge date. *This is how Patreon handles their billing, not CCW.

in korea when you are the same age as someone you call them your “friend” because you can talk comfortably without using honorifics like “hyung”. So in the group RM and Jhope are considered friends because they are both born in 1994 and V and Jimin are friends because they were both born in 1995

hi. the "friend" translation has some context in it and i think it's the closest translation. you know South Korea is soo big in hierarchy when it comes to age, and when they say "friend", it may mean someone their age who they dont have to do honorifics with recently they had a video wherein they were discussing what will happen 30 or 40 yrs from now, and the subtitle shows them saying "where we're 60, we are all friends". so that means they dont need to do honorifics by then

When they say "friend", they mean same age people. Koreans only refer to same age people as friends. Boys call their elder brothers "hyung", younger brothers as "dongsaeng". So techinally, the pair of friends in bts is Jimin and V (born in 1995) and Namjoon and Hobi (born in 1994).

1) 'friends' are people the same age as you. They are all obviously friends but the word has a different meaning to them. RM & J-Hope, V & Jimin are friends 2) they have lived together because they were all trainees. They lived together with a bunch of other possible bts members before they were chosen. Namjoon,Yoongi and Hobi knew each other since 2010 and after that Jin,Jungkook and V came in 2011 followed by Jimin in 2012 so it's been different years of knowing each other between members 3) remember their age is in korean age. Jungkook was like 18 or sth I think [4) just to clear up if you are confused: None of them knew each other before bts.] I think the reason why they are so nervous to do everything alone is because they never had to. When they were children they had their parents and since they are teenagers they have staffs so they never had to learn it haha I'm excited to see your future reactions to bon voyage

Friend in korean means person of the same age, that's why RM and Hobi kept talking about going with a "friend" :) Jimin/V and Jhope/RM are the only "friends" in bts as it is translated from Korean, because they are the only ones who are the same age.

I wanna say so much, but it would spoil it. You guys are gonna love BV. The reason you hear "Fire" so much is that the song/MV came out around that time. When this video starts you can even see the members wearing clothes from the Comeback Special on SBS Inkigayo 2016. One of my favorite parts is their grocery shopping, lol. I cannot wait to rewatch this with you guys. 🤗💜

2013 only was their debut but they were together earlier than that. Rm,Suga,Hobi i think since 2010 during their trainee period. Jimin joined 2012 and during trainee period they're still going to school together. There are times that the boys picking up JK at school and they are the one packing JK's lunchbox as well specially Jin. I think you will understand more at The Rise Of Bangtan documentary.

All 4 seasons of bon voyage are amazing and just so iconic! Each season is a different year so like s1=2016, s2 2017, s3 2018, and s4 2019. Then there's in the soop season 1 which was during 2020 so they couldn't travel to other countries so it's more of a staycation in Korea, and in the soop season 2 is in 2021 and they did another staycation in Korea. Can't wait for you to see all of the above, both series are so much fun

1. They lived together while in training, for some since 2010. 2. ...deleted since many others explained "friend" 3. When they are saying how old they are here, they are referring to their Korean age.

So excited for this. Also, I don't want you to think they weren't close back then because they were. They'd already been through a lot together & bonded over that. When they say a friend, they're referring to someone of or close to the same age. For example Hobi would be Namjoon's friend as they're both 94'. Jin is 92' & Yoongi is 93', so they are his hyungs and the maknae line are obviously all younger than him. I believe friend is like someone you can more casual with.

None of them knew each other before joining Big Hit, but they were training for a while before debut so that's why they don't say that they've known each other for 3 years (since 2013) but longer

In Ref. to how long they knew each other, it helps to remember they were trainees first before their official debut. The trainee period differed for each of them, but the first ones to join in 2010 were together the longest. Jimin was the last to join and only had six months as a trainee before their official debut. So for some of them, three years after debut was six years after they met, if that makes sense. Jimin and V went to school together because they were the same age. Jimin and JK are both from Busan but didn’t know each other until they joined BTS. Also, their international ages Are different from their Korean age. I always go by their birth year rather than how old you hear them say in videos since they use their Korean age (until recently.) I would love for you to react to New Quiz on the Block. It’s fun and very informative!!! Love being part of your new Tier!!! Thank you!! 💜 (sorry if this is redundant. They don't really consider each other as friends. They are family, and you don't consider your brothers as friends. The members who do call each other a friend, is because they are the same age..94 line for ex. They really have a family dynamic.

Before debut, there was a period of trainees. From 2010, the members joined one by one as trainees. The members didn't know each other before.

As far as the friend thing, in Korea, it refers to someone being the same age as you. But for us, it may feel like it's because RM, Suga, and Hope have known each other longer. They were the first 3 members of BTS. And yes, Jimin and V, also the same age, went to the same school before debuting with the other members. They are all close friends (family), but even so within the group, some pairs just go together. V and Jimin, Hope and Suga, Hope and RM, JK and Jin, and so on...😊

I’m so excited to watch this again with you guys! This was the first show I watched after I became an ARMY in late 2016. There will be a lot of things to learn along the way especially with the terms they use because of the language and cultural difference but don’t be afraid of not knowing it. When you heard 6 years, that means their training period before debuting as a member of BTS. They were casted as trainees first rather than an official member. As a trainee you will undergo dance, singing, performance lessons, tests and they are cutting someone after an evaluation. Fun fact though, Jimin was almost kicked out of the team 8 times before debuting as an official member of BTS 😅

I'm 51. OT7 but Kim Namjoon tugs at the heart strings. Started in 2019 and it has been the best thing for me. Really excited to rewatch with you!! 🥰 It'll be so nice to see our boys enjoy themselves. I'm happy they got to experience this coz right now, they can't go to a place anymore by themselves 🥺😓 So when the members call each other "friends" they only meant that with like someone their same age. You know how they respect the ones older than them - even just a year gap is a big thing. That's a big deal in their culture. Even Yoongi can't say that Jin is his "friend" unless Jin says that he can "drop the honorofics". So they can't really call Jin by his name alone. Even for JK for Chim and Tae. Because of the hierarchical age culture in Korea, technically the only people who you can call a 'friend' is someone born the same year as you. These are also the only people who you can use casual language with. Anyone older or younger than you must be referred to by a more formal term than 'friend'. This is why you hear the word 'hyung' (meaning an older brother of another male) used so often by BTS; it's the more formal word for younger members to use to refer to or speak to older members. JK must use 'hyung' to talk to all the other members because he is the youngest. When he calls them, he says 'Jin-hyung!' or 'V-hyung!', etc....

So... BTS lived together before their debut. At the point of this recording, they had lived together (in an apartment) for 6 yrs .. Their debut was in 2013 the first BV was in 2016. If I am not wrong, they lived together 3 yrs before their debut

Sometimes, this is where we find the funniest, most chaotic content about the trips. I agree with all the previous posts also, lets keep in mind when they refer to their ages they go by the korean age system, which will make them 2 years older than the international age what everyone else in the world follows, thankfully Korea will change to international age this june 2023, so they will be just like the rest of us.

About the "friend" comment, in korea, there is an age hierarchy, so you have to use formal language with someone older than you, even if it's just by a year, and you use informal language with someone younger or the same age as you. BTS had been together for a very long time since before debut, so they already have a brotherhood, it's just that since people with the same age are on the same level in the age hierarchy in korea, you consider them a friend, but that doesn't mean ur not close with the other people older or younger than you

The whole thing about Namjoon saying he wants to go with his friend is kinda a weird translation thing, basically in Korea the word used for friend that Namjoon uses technically only refers to people who are the same age as you (older friends like Jin for example would just be referred to as Hyung) so him calling J-Hope his friend isn’t saying the others aren’t his friends it’s just that Hobi is the only member who is his friend that’s the same age

since the first SARS in japan, decades ago, many Asians wear masks, at work if they are sick, or when they travel, or are in close quarters. In fact, if you have a cold or flu and don't wear a mask, you are considered rude. ESP in Japan, Korea and Hawaii. They were together before they debuted, some longer than others, Jimin was the shortest pre debut at 6 months. also V and Jimin went to high school together in seol, they were both in HS when they debuted. they were jr and sr. yrs in high school before and after debut.

Antes vivían en el pequeño apartamento donde tenían que compartir una sola habitación, luego se mudaron a este apartamento (2016) y en el 2017 a otro hasta que finalmente en el 2018 se mudaron al lujoso apartamento en Hannam donde vivieron todos juntos hasta más o menos 2021/22. As far as I know, non of the guys actually knew each other(I believe RM and Suga knew of each other because of them both being from the underground rap scene) until they became trainees. Jimin and V did go to school together, but that was after they joined BTS. They were sent to a performing arts kind of school.

Ahh the most chaotic season of Bon Voyage 😄 excited to watch this again! Fyi guys, the boys debuted in 2013, however they were already living together as trainees since way before then. Since you watched the guides, you'll know the order of them joining as trainees, with Jimin being the last. Since Namjoon and Yoongi were the first 2 to join, at the time of this interview, they had already been living together for 6 years. So all 7 were already bonded close but when Koreans say 'friend' or 'chingu' they mean people born in the same year. Since Namjoon and Hobi were both born in 94, they refer to each other as 'friend', while referring to Jin and Suga as 'hyung' (older brother), although they are equally as close. As for Tae and Jimin, also 'friends', they did not know each other before joining BigHit, they met as trainees in the company. And since they were of the same age, once they moved to Seoul, they started going to school together. They became really close as time went by and that's why everyone (including themselves) refer to each other as soulmates. You'll learn more of their close bond in seasons 2 and 3 of Bon Voyage. However, I hope with more content you watch, you'll come to understand that although each of them have different connections with the other 6, all 7 are very close, as anyone would be, living together for so long and going through the grueling training and then finally, debuting and continuing as BTS for this long. It'll take way too long to describe each special relationship and its background, like Jin and Kookie or Kookie and Tae etc. but the more content you watch, you'll see them mention these themselves. So just sit back and enjoy guys! 💜

They’re all friends lol what rm was saying about “wanting to go with a friend” has to do with going with someone his age bc in their culture everything to do with age is always such a focus. If he goes with older people then he doesn’t get as much of a say and may be always overruled, if he goes with someone younger… than he’s expected to always be in charge.. and as you will discover… namjoon isn’t the best traveler lol so going with someone if his age year would be more casual for that reason. The 7 of them have been best friends and brothers since before they even debuted … but they’d been all loving together for like 4-6 years at this point already all sharing one room for like 4 years . They’re all best friends already…. Thing don’t always translate accurately in English if that makes sense

The "friend" thing J-hope said refers to the Korean culture and their age system and hierarchy, it is not like they were not friends (at this point family) but it is just that in Korea your only "real" friends are people of the same age (there is a different age system but not really important right now because it is going to change to the international system soon), because people who are just one year older you have to refer to them as your elderly, to people just one year younger they have to refer to you as their elderly so only people same age can call themselves without any form of formal speech... very short explanation but hopefully understandable

One of the things that I love most about Bon Voyage is that it teaches the boys real-life things that they wouldn't normally be able to do as idols. Checking in for a flight, buying tickets for public transportation, figuring out the route they need to take with that public transportation, ordering food in a place that doesn't speak Korean, how to handle problems that come up while in a foreign country, etc. They learned so many practical skills in this series and I love watching them learn.

It was J-Hope that said he had lived with RM for 6 years. Keep in mind that they were living together as trainees before BTS debuted. They all met as trainees, and some trained for years before their debut, which is how they are able to say that they've been living together for longer than BTS has been a group. And as for how it's filmed, they will have self-cams for some of it, but they do have a decent film crew that goes with them and follows them around, however the film crew is not allowed to help them except in emergencies (no matter how much they ask). They have to figure everything out on their own. When they travel as a group for work, their managers are usually the ones that book everything beforehand, check them all in for flights, ensure they have transportation everywhere they go, and make sure that all 7 of them stay together. In this, there will be a few things set out for them, but they have to figure out how to get there on their own. I'm really looking forward to you guys watching these shows. You're going to absolutely love them. There are 8 episodes, yes, but there's also the Behind the Scenes!!! Don't forget about those. Every episode has a behind that gives you extra footage (mostly from the self-cams). I hope you guys watch those as well along with the regular episodes.

RM and Jhope called themselves a Friend because they were born in the same year (1994), In Korea Age is determine the hierarcy..so if people born in the same year they are a FRIEND, in BTS Jhope and RM is born at 1994 and JImin and V born at 1995 (for JImin and V they are also going to school together (high school) because at that time they already a trainee at Big Hit).

When Hobi talks about a "friend", in Korean that means someone your own age, because you would use different words for someone older or younger than you. So it doesn't mean Hobi doesn't consider the others his friends, it's just that Namjoon is the only member who is the same age as Hobi.

RM and J-Hope trained together before the others got picked to train. So they were friends. Suga was there too. Not sure why he didn't have friend status. And RM really did "quit". He ran home. His dad told him he would regret quitting and talked him into going back. And you know J-Hope quit too. He was bullied and made fun if in training by the other 30 who ge trained with. He didn't fit in. He was told he was ugly. This happened even after he was signed. As you saw he wasn't popular. Didn't get fan messages or fan mail. The fans told he was ugly and should quit. Ha. The korean word for friend "친구" (chingu) is used to refer to a friend the same age as you. Since Hobi and Joon were both born in 94 they are "friends" (same with Jimin and Tae). For Hobi, the others would be referred to as hyungs (Jin and Yoongi) or dongsaengs (Jimin, Tae and JK).

Exactly like Michelle and Tumtan said, in Korean only people with the same age you can call "chinggu" or friend. If J-Hope went with Jin or Suga, he will be going travel with his hyungs" or big brother. And if he went with Jimin, V and Jungkok, he will be going travel with his "dongsaengs" or lil brother, or we called it the maknaes, the younger ones. There's so much differences hanging out with a friend or with the older one in korea. For example, if you eating with the elders, you cant start eating first before they do, etc. And they still carry that culture/attitudes untill now I guess.

I can explain how Korean age works if that helps! It has been abolished as of 2023 and the country uses the international age system now. Basically, it is understood that you are one years old at birth. It does not matter when you were born but everyone becomes a year older on New Year’s. In international age, Jin and Suga are the same age for nine months of the year because Jin was born in Dec ‘92 and Suga was born in March ‘93. They bicker sometimes about whether Suga should really call Jin ‘hyung’ when they’re essentially ‘friends’ (friends in this context means being the same age).
