I felt like drawing Luffy from One Piece.  I can't remember when I started reading it.  Probably before my comic started.  I know I was reading Naruto before then.  I stopped reading Naruto because I didn't feel like I really needed to read the sequel series.  For a while I wasn't reading much of anything regularly and it was really starting to affect my own ability to create.  Recently I started picking up random titles I thought looked good, or that got recommended to me just so that I wasn't constantly inundated in the misery that permeates the rest of the internet basically.  Consuming media that resonates with you, as a creator, refills that well that you draw your own creative water from.

I used to read a lot of webcomics but all the titles I liked either ended, or the creators became deranged in the last 8 years or so.  Now I just read Questionable Content out of some grim sense of obligation to my past.  I can't bring myself to give up that last little bit of internet culture that made me thing "Hey, I could do that."

Anyway, what I'm reading now are as follows in no particualr order:

One Piece

Sousou no Freiren

One Punch Man

My Hero Academia/Vigilantes/Team Up Missions

Komi Can't Communicate

Dungeon Meishi

Zom 100

I'm Dating A Dark Summoner

Edomae Elf

Bijin Onna Joushi Takizawa San

Please Don't Bully Me Nagataro

Kimi No Todoke

Dragon Ball Super

Vinland Saga

and probably others I'm forgetting.

Since they all update at various intervals I've got all these going just so I can float around to whatever one has a chapter out at any given time.  I try to buy the physical releases if they were ever printed in English, but for some I'm just stealing them until such a time that I can buy translated volumes if ever that time comes.

Anyway, this is just something to remind you all that I'm doing things outside of the comic when I can, or whatever.  I'm still making extra comic pages too I just don't have one ready.

Recommendation from a reader with similar tastes. Call of the Night, Helck, and Girl Genius/El Goonish Shive might be some comics you would enjoy? Hope you like any of these.

William Burns

Yeah, Girl Genius is definitely not 'deranged' in the political sense, it's just Mad Science.

I'm sorry to hear you don't seem to enjoy QC any more. I think it was a reference from there that brought me to Between Failures in the first place, and I'm still enjoying both.

If you ever feel like reading a fun series that starts with one of the greatest paragraphs I have ever read try the monster hunter Inc books. Are they good? I really can't answer that because they remind me of tales from the crypt mixed with a michael bay movie. guns, monsters, and silly situations mixed with occasional serious moments.

I want to love those books so much. I have friends who shoot with the author and he sounds like a great guy, the story lines sound so fun but his MC hates libs so much. I thought the world was a really great take but I couldn't get past that. It did help me understand the whole sad puppy debacle better though cause in the fantasy settings I rea I have noticed more of the casual putdowns of conservatives that I skated in the past without noticing.

I used to love QC as well, still re-read some of the early comics sometimes. Actually just finished re-reading Queen of Wands and the first 10 years or so of Something Positive. The nostalgia is strong for me there. I used to have a list of something like 10 web comics I would regularly read. Sinfest, Doctor McNinja, Girl Genius, more I'm forgetting I'm sure. These days the only web comics I read regularly are yours and Gunnerkrigg Court. Been getting back into manga lately too. Battle Angel Alita, Ghost in the Shell, and Frerien.
