Hello my fellow bass players!

In the latest poll A LOT of you requested tips on music theory and writing bass lines / solos. So here's a lesson on how to write great bass lines!

This is a process I use a lot for bass lines and solos, and I think it's pretty easily replicable. As always though, let me know if you have any questions or feedback and I'll make sure to reply to you ASAP!

Thanks for coming here and practising with me, and I'll see you in the next lesson!

Hi Great lesson, I just wanted to confirm with the structure what would be the difference between ABAC and ABCA structure? Is it taking each bass variation say the B for example and just placing it in different order?

Charles Berthoud

Yes that's essentially the difference! In ABAC, phrases 1 and 3 are the same, whereas in ABCA, phrases 1 and 4 are the same.
