So when you hold a chord and then play a melody, you are basically working within that scale structure set at that moment? Did you improvise all this?

No I never just improv in my videos haha 🤣 Yes when I'm holding a chord and playing a melody, usually the melody is just based on notes within the key. It'll often mostly revolve around chord tones (3rd, 5th, 7th, root) but also sometimes include tensions like 9s and 13s. And then if it's a modal interchange chord like flat 6, flat 2 etc. I'll sometimes use notes in the mode from which that chord is borrowed (an Ab major chord in the key of C major is "borrowing" Ab major from C Aeolian).
