Development Diary - Apr 2019 (Patreon)

Hey Everyone!

I'm happy to share that I've just finished penciling page 6 of the new Meatier Showers series this weekend (finally!) It's been something I've put off the past 2 weeks primarily because it's a demanding page (involving 10 panels) and I was literally terrified to begin working on it, not without being at my game 100%. And because it's been such a major production hurdle, it will be this month's Early Access page preview as I am excited to show the results!

Now that a minimal of 6 pages have been drafted, and a story arc formed, I feel more comfortable with sharing the long-term plans for Meatier Showers 2019.

Production Timeline

As of this weekend, I am actually 2 weekends or (12 hours) behind schedule. In a nutshell, I can only work on my Patreon project on Sundays - it's when I stream and usually lasts between 4-6 hours per session. Within that window of 4-6 hours, I try to cover as much ground as possible.  Work has been draining, and I usually need to full Saturday to literally not do anything and recuperate. It's a tight shift to say the least.

The first story arc for Meatier Showers 2019 spans 6 pages. This is the reintroduction arc for returning readers (from my 1-year hiatus) and serves as a jumping board for new readers. It very quickly introduces the setting, main cast of characters and their dynamic.

The next 6 pages will transition from Harvey's Dine-In Diner to the "Changing Room" story arc involving fan-favorites, Tanz and Groover. This arc will explore what's new with the couple and sexy shenanigans they've been up to.

Short Term Goal

My goal for 2019 is essentially to produce 12 pages of the new series. It doesn't seem a lot, nut based on a monthly roll-out schedule, it will fill up a year's worth of updates.I am taking it SLOW, because my day job is demanding.

Mid Term Goal

While production is much slower as compared to when I was doing Patreon full-time, I hope to maintain the pace at least for 2 years worth of updates. This means that I have content lined up for another 1-2 story arcs spanning another 12 pages. Without revealing too much, I have a few more story arcs prepared for the future, in the event that I require them.

Long Term Goal

It is not feasible as before to produce a full comic book within a year, however I do hope to make the most of my available time. Originally my ideal situation was to quit my day job after the completion of my house (3-4 years away from now) and work on Patreon full-time. I have to emphasize on the word "ideal". The reality is that a lot can happen within that time-frame. And it'd be too long to wait until then before actually working on Meatier Showers. So I've decided to take those 3-4 years on slowly working towards an ongoing Patreon project that will hopefully someday, amount to enough content to form a substantial book. I do hope to engage my publisher again once we get there, and I do have plans to work on some new trade paperback compilations. But all this is far away. It's an inkling of a direction.
