The Story Thus Far (Patreon)

With the arrival of July, my one-year studio lease comes to an end. Despite earlier indications among my studio mates of wanting to extend our lease for another 6 months, enthusiasm had substantially withered down. An indication that I had only come to be aware of during the month itself, during which I had less than 3 weeks to make all the necessary arrangements.

The good news: 2 weeks prior to actually becoming homeless without a roof to take refuge under, I was fortunate enough to secure a place to stay for another 6 months till the end of 2017.

The bad news: What was once a US$100 monthly studio rent has now quadrupled to US$440 per month at what is now a proper residential area, because space in Singapore, like most cities, is a commodity.

What you can do to help: It's really quite simple mathematically... For the year that I was staying in the corner of our art studio, a fraction of my Patreon earnings was enough to pay for the rent, with enough to spare for daily necessities and some meager savings. Starting August 2017, more than half of my Patreon earnings goes to rent alone. What's happening now: This is the production timeline for the month of July. As of this posting, I am trying to regain my focus from the initial panic of being homeless and reworking the end scene. I am currently at page 23 of the originally intended total of 24 pages. Based on the story pacing, I am revising the conclusion a little and extending it to possibly 26 pages so that things don't end abruptly.

What's happening later: I have already done some initial planning for KAIJUICE 2. In case anyone was wondering, yes, I'm doing this project for the long run as my main income source, and have plotted the KAIJUICE story arc for 3 chapters. After which everything will culminate in a final conclusive book that, hopefully, should bring all my work full circle.
