Hay, everyone - Yoko and I have both decided we need one more week to get totally caught up and get ahead on our buffer, so I'll be answering RQ's next week as well. I'm very sorry for the continued delay.

Additionally, I found out today that the show I'm working on hasn't... been renewed for a new season yet? And also there's going to be a hiatus if it is renewed? This means that the future of my job is now rather unclear, and even if PBS decides to pick it up again, I'll be unemployed for a couple months.

While this would be great because I could use that time to work on DotL exclusively, it does not bode well that I had to find out this information secondhand from someone else. I really love working here because the work is fun and I believe in what the show is doing (educating kids about astrophysics) and it allows me a bunch of extra time to update DotL in a timely manner... it might be time for me to shop around a little to make sure my butt is covered.

All of this to say, I'm expecting some rough waters ahead, and the comic may once again be a casualty - something I will do everything in my power to prevent, but that's just the way things stand at the moment.

I will, of course, make sure to keep all of you up to date and informed as to my situation and the status of the comic! I know this news comes off as somewhat anxious, but I want to assure all of you that this is my passion project, and I am dead set on seeing it to its conclusion, no matter what it takes. Sometimes things happen, but you deal with them and get back to it.

Thank you for your support!! You guys are fantastic and I hope you know how much each and every one of you is appreciated for making the comic what it is today. <3

It would be really cool if we (patrons) could increase our support so that you didn't have to stress about it. Who knows, maybe a door is closing to open bigger/better opportunities for you. Keep the faith, and things will work out even when things look like it's all falling apart. Our eager enjoyment of DotL doesn't show much patience, but we would rather there be delays and a good finished story than some rush job. My family wishes you and Yoko good health and peace to your hearts.

Please feel free to take an additional 2 or even 3 weeks, if you need the extra time and/or buffer. Or it would be perfectly fine if you start updating DotL once a week if that's easier on you. I would much rather you two be healthy and minimally stressed than get comic updates asap, so please take care of yourselves first. <3

Job uncertainty is the worst. I've not had to deal with it, but I've had close family who has. Take the time you need to get things sorted out

As someone who has had to deal with Job uncertainty, do not delay. I could have had a number of good opportunities if I didn't wait to see what was to become of my current situation. It's better to decline later than to have been too late.

A story like this takes a lot of effort.. external support helps, but at the end of the day you're the one who has to fill each blank page. That's an endurance thing, and pacing is part of the process. Just remember what Shigeru Miyamoto said: "A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time" Find the balance that lets you have a life, deliver pages, and feel good about both.
