Fun Fact. In the bonus features on the Blu Ray/ DVD copy of Inglorious Bastards you can watch the whole movie they showed in the theater "Nation's Pride". It's so corny it's funny.

Han's Landa is a smart man. He also knew around this time the war was not going well for Germany. The Allies had either began their invasion of France or they were preparing for it. Landa just took advantage of the opportunity in front of him. He's clever but he's also a snake.

Tyler Clayton

Also, not sure if you guys noticed. Han's Landa is played by the same actor as Schultz in Django. Christoph Waltz.

From what you've said in your recap about Tarantino's style and being sort of all over the place. You will probably appreciate Kill Bill more than this movie. It's more focused on one main character and one goal. If you can guess what that is. lol but it's much more serious and goal/story focused. Granted it's Tarantino so it still has his twist, comedy, and flair to it.

I am enjoying these Tarantino reactions. Subverting your expectations, while giving you a wild ride filled with gratuitous violence, humor, great acting, original storytelling and artistic directing. I look forward to at least 3 more of his films for you to watch.

Sully

"They made him a paranoid moron", he wasn't far from that lol

Here is another movie that knowledge of the historical context would vastly improve. There are a million fictional stories and movies about WWII that like most historical fictions, create new narratives within real historical events. This movie was one of them for the first half. But from the moment they said Hitler was going to Paris to watch a goddamn movie, ideally, you would have realized that there is no way that would have happened that late in the war, and that we were departing from history in fundamental ways. I literally got chills down my spine when they say that Hitler and the entire high command would be there. Goebbels, Borman, Goering, Himmler, etc. All these names that were a harbinger of genocidal horror and death. Suddenly, we were in an alternate history, and ANYTHING could happen. And it did. THAT, is the genius of this movie. It's a Jewish revenge fantasy, a "what if" that obviously never happened - but was IMMENSELY cathartic to witness. Spartan noticed the eyes of the "Jew Bear" as he was shooting the Nazis from up there with murderous abandon, and yes, in those eyes, you see the world-burning fury of 6M people that the Nazis mercilessly slaughtered. Pls pls pls don't take this the wrong way but it is distressing that apparently Australian schools don't teach you this stuff. Kill Bill is a revenge fantasy (no spoilers). Django is a Black American revenge fantasy. Inglorious Basterds is a Jewish revenge fantasy. Tragically, this never happened. But damn, it feels soooo good to watch it happen. THAT, was the context and point of this film.

Love seeing your guys' utter confusion at the end of a Tarantino film lol. He truly is the most unique director ever. He's my second favorite behind Christopher Nolan.

Nicole Herd

He gave himself away in the bar by putting the three fingers up like he did. I can't remember how, but Germans hold them up in a different way.

Hyperaware

LOL Tarantino movies dont have rules, but the endings and storylines aren’t that confusing because they’re still relating to the overall story, they’re just not the same things that always happens in every other movie. You just have to keep up with the scenes because they jump to different people, and things happen in crazy ways. And who says everyone has to live through to the end of a movie? Who says movies are supposed to have one particular structure? It’s really a merging of characters and plans at the very end to create a huge climax in the end, honestly it’s the perfect pacing for longer movies. The best movies have all emotions in it, and the characters feel real because they show how in life things go crazy and people have many dimensions to themselves, and sometimes life makes you laugh at the worst times lol.

Please add Kill Bill to a poll!

Lara Amaro

Since its the war bandwagon and its a bit different, JoJo Rabbit please!

TallTyrionLannister

Agreed. Not trying to hate either but them barely knowing anything about the actual history takes away a lot from the film.

It's surprising how little some parts of the world teach WWII. South Africa, for example, name their children Hitler because all they really know is that he was a leader that nearly took over Europe and nothing else. T

Eric

I would second this - particularly knowing they would get a kick out of Taika Waititi’s acting and directing. If they haven’t seen it yet of course

Rui Antunes

You have to watch Pulp Fiction as well, a classic Tarantino!
