Hey S&P Fam!
As you may know, the next movie poll will be our 'Movie Series' poll which will consist of trilogies or tetralogies.

We have been wanting to figure out a better system that may help not alienate people for several weeks at a time who love watching movies with us but may not be invested in the series chosen. We also wanted to consider immersion and consistency factors for our personal enjoyment and engagement.

What we have decided on (and happy to hear your thoughts in the comments) is the following:
Any movie series chosen will run on a bi-weekly schedule (every 2 weeks) while in between we run our normal single movie polls on the genre rotation we already have.

For example if Planet of the Apes got voted in:

Week 1: Planet of the Apes 1

Week 2: Drama/War Movie

Week 3: Planet of the Apes 2

Week 4: Thriller Movie

Week 5: Planet of the Apes 3

Week 6: Comedy Movie

Week 7: Planet of the Apes 4

Week 8: Animated movie

This is just an example, and please keep in mind movies can sometimes be delayed due to scheduling, copyright restrictions etc. which is why movies are on a 7-14 day schedule, the example above is best case/ideal scenario

Madison

Jose

Sounds good, if u Guys end up watching the planet of the apes movies, u will not be disappointed😊

Dónde está la biblioteca

I won’t be mad if you focus more on dramas than war movies for a bit. No shade on excellent war movies. But numerically, there are even more excellent dramas.

Chase

Sounds good 😎!!!

thank u next

Suggestion for future war movie poll: All Quiet On The Western Front (2022) 👈 Won a lot of awards (including 9 Oscars) and it's easily accessible on Netflix

Oslo

Looking forward to rewatching Silence of the Lambs with you and seeing your reaction!

Madison

Considering it’s in the description of the movie I don’t consider what I said a spoiler.

K

Great idea! This is the way

Ammaar Ahmed

This is actually a pretty good way of doing things. Diversity AND allows something to last

Zimm

Great idea. Planet of the Apes trilogy is fantastic!

Pablo

good idea

Bryson Freeman

I would suggest Star Wars (1-6), Indiana Jones (1-3), The Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart, The Princess Bride, and Casablanca

Paul De'Armond

Sounds good. Indiana Jones series, Alien series, Mission Impossible series, The OG spiderman trilogy just to name a few since you've reacted to LOTR and Harry Potter already.

Kirill D.

Sounds good guys.

kelly

Ngl, I am not an action girlie like that. I'm picky and I don't really seek out that genre. With that said, my mom is a HUGE action fan and had me watch all of the Mission Impossible movies last summer for thr first time and I have to say, with the exception of the second film, I had A TIME lol they were so much fun, I loved them. I ended up seeing the new one in theatres lol i really hope they watch those eventually.

kelly

I still haven't seen this because I don't wanna cry 😢 but I heard it's amazing.

Kj

Thats a great schedule. Children of Men for drama/War pleaseeeee

Lyn Hurst

I approve. 😁

imperial

I'm definitely ready for several months of STAR WARS 😀

Logan Raine

would u guys ever react to horror movies? especially with halloween coming up

K

Would love: Back to the Future Indiana Jones The Mummy Kill Bill Alien Predator Mission Impossible Jurassic Park Shrek Planet of the Apes Ocean’s Eleven-series Godfather Star Wars Terminator Bourne trilogy Final Destination Underworld Men in Black Rush Hour Ice Age Maze Runner :)

Dale Tucker

I do always wonder how it's possible you guys missed so many critically acclaimed shows until now (Not the apes, I mean every movie from your YT combined). What were you watching until you started your YT? This ain't a criticism or smth, just genuinely curios

Jenna

I really do just feel that it’s a hobby type of situation. Some people just have other hobbies they prioritize. I know that a some people who really love to read trade tv show and movie time for reading as a way of consuming stories. Or if people are really into gaming of any kind, or have major outdoor hobbies like hiking, climbing, camping, fishing, etc. There’s a lot of things that could take up your feee time instead of movies and tv shows, and different ways to still consume stories similarly to if you had watched a movie. 🙂 I agree that some of the misses are still shocking to me sometimes! But I also haven’t seen half the stuff they are watching for the first time hahaha.

Jenna

Sounds like a good plan

Amber S

Yeah this sounds good! The movies are all I’m watching right now

Alex sh

I prefer continuous. If it’s a series I don’t like, just bang it out quick back to back to back.

Alex

Continuous because u guys skip movie weeks too often

My interpretation of Spartan’s past comments on horror is not straight up horror films. But instead, developed characters and maybe a richer story where horror is perhaps a story-telling vehicle, but not the main point. That rules out a lot of traditional horror you see with reactors. I’ve wondered if Ari Astor’s Heredity, for example, might be up their alley. But shows like Saw, Scream, even Barbarian might not be for them. That is my take from their past comments.

Dónde está la biblioteca

They have stated in the past like to go in blind, without reading descriptions or knowing anything. So as a community we get to help them fulfill that preference.

Logan Raine

oh okay nice! i feel like the scream franchise is too cheesy of horror films. hereditary, midsommar, etc, the psychological horror films are where its at in terms of great reactions. good to know thank u for ur response 🫡🙏🏽

Riolkin

I like this idea for a schedule personally, but I'm not in a rush for anything in particular. I could see why maybe some people who just join for certain series might find the prolonged schedule a little tedious but I'm here for the long haul so I'm honestly happy either way. There's so many great films you guys haven't seen I can't wait to see what you dig into next

Alex

They most certainly do not watch a movie every week just last week they didn't. ?!?

Nicholas R Huber

You guys would love planet of the apes for sure I really hope that gets voted in

Jeff

Good system, ape together strong

Alex

16 movie reactions this year out of 37 weeks so far...

Jasper

Nah they did like 30 movies, so they missed about 7 weeks total

SuddenImpulse

Maybe I am just an old fart but I feel like the new movies kind of lost the themes and message of the originals along the way. I haven't seen the newest one though. I'm also a bit concerned that they said it is planned to be a 9 movie saga.

SuddenImpulse

We have a reaction suggestion forum in the community discord! Dropping some of those in there will probably help their chances. S&P go through them on occasion when they need to fill a poll slot, as they get suggestions on instagram, youtube, discord, and patreon daily in their comment sections. =)

SuddenImpulse

The original All Quiet is better. The new one actually got quite a few things wrong and received some criticism for it.

SuddenImpulse

Works for me. Can always change it up if you end up not liking it or something.

Luke

I'm still shooting for the Alien, Terminator, and Back to the Future for movie series. Also suggesting Forrest Gump and The Green Mile for solo movies

Alex

So you said “one time” but now it’s 7. But it’s really more than that lmao.

spartanandpudgey

I (Spartan) Was a big gamer, anime watcher and i followed a lot of cw series and superhero movies. Pudgey liked watching things that weren't hyped/niche (to her) and lots of documentaries we have seen stuff like DC/Marvel stuff, Transformers, Matrix etc. but obviously we never really took the time to watch a lot of the stuff that boomed when we were growing up and missed out on. a lot of these things we have heard of or are familiar with its existence and sometimes premise, but just didnt invest in watching them. even we are blown away by how much we missed, we only really realised once starting this channel

Madison

Sorry guys didn’t realize describing the genre a movie was in was a spoiler. Deleted the comment

Madison

Me neither but some other people got upset about it and I can’t be bothered with the drama 😂

K

I am so excited!!!

Paul De'Armond

100%. The second one is not good lol, but im willing to sit through it for the rest.

Jasper

Because I did not actually go and check the exact number. But missing 7 weeks out of 37 is not 'often' lol. Plus, you want them to do reaction when they're not feeling well? That's not enjoyable for them and for us as viewers.

Leo

They're very different movies, the only commonality being apes tbh. But I wouldn't recommend the originals, even if that last reveal of the first is pretty phenomenal.

Invisigoth99

Love this structure! Praying for the Alien movies (even Prometheus and covenant)

Jenna

Food for thought: S&P are human beings, not machines, who need breaks sometimes! 😁

Hank Scorpio

If you're talking about MI:2. I would say it's bad but in a funny way. It's so bad that it's worth watching just to laugh at it lol
