Isn't it HoHH episode 2 today?

Apotheosis

Hey Spudgey, heads up, the title in the description is for episode 2.

tastymctasterson

Hysterical blindness is a real condition that is now known as a form of conversion disorder. It's a functional disorder that can cause a person to experience sudden or gradual vision loss, which can affect one or both eyes. Other symptoms include numbness or paralysis. Hysterical blindness is often triggered by a psychological event, such as a life change like retirement, divorce, or going to college. In all recorded cases, vision has been restored, usually with treatment and time.

The text at the end is actually wrong (the series is based on a book which falsely states Blithe died in 1948). In reality Albert Blithe actually recovered from his wounds, and even served in the Korean War several years after WWII!

Alex

lol Malarky couldn't count the money becasue it wasen't US currency he doesn't know the prices.

Lyn Hurst

This episode was soo deep into the many layers, feelings, complications, and horrors of war. I have heard the war is hell saying many times. I would also say war is unpredictable. You don't know whether you will make it out alive, whether if you do if you can stay focused or fall apart. You may live and see your buddy die in front of you only for a few minutes of battle or if they just happened to step two inches to the left or the right and got shot or stepped on a mine. My grandfather almost got killed by a poisonous snake when sleeping in a fox hole. Thankfully his buddy spotted it and killed him. But he woke up to a gun pointed at him and thought it was the enemy. His buddy told him not to move and he then shot at the snake and killed it. Full of surprises, but not always the ones you want.

Malarkey was paying in English coins and did not know the amounts. They were back in England for a rest not to go back home but back to France.

Henry Stebner

All the laundry was before they first left Endland on D-Day. The soldier going man to wounded man was a chaplain giving last rights to the dead.

Henry Stebner

The airborne of world War 2 are like the special forces of today. There special training was needed earlier then anticipated so they rest back in England was cut short. You may recall Garnere was talking to someone from his home town. He is one of the replacements for those men who have died or returned home due to their wounds

That outro lol so funny like Pudgey always cracks up in the serious parts.

Daenerys Targaryen

Question: Does anyone know if it's possible to see who liked you comment? I also feel like sometimes I'll get notified when someone likes a comment, but sometimes I won't. Just curious.

PastaDon

Nah, you guys are the best reactors in the buisness.. imo.. People that come at you in the comments, that shit is gonna happen no matter what you do, you guys know this already.. I mean, in the world of reactors, I always feel less is more. A persons face and eyes and short timely comments say it all.. especially if that comment is "oh shit" There's so many reactors out there that overreact and have some type of agenda thay wanna push, they become unwatchable and it's so obvious from their intro.. end up just turning them off 60 sec in.. lol.. You guys are grounded, good people, funny, keep things simple and keep an awesome schedule.. which helps remind me which day it is😁 Enjoy your break guys.. see you when you get back..

TwistedMagoo

They have to pull the soldiers off the front line from time to time when they can, but they would never have thought they were going back to the USA at that point in the war. They knew it was just back to Britain. It would be inadvisable to keep soldiers on the front line for too long if it can be avoided. (Which is not to say they might not have preferred a longer break)

SuddenImpulse

Another great reaction guys. I really look forward to some somewhat similar future war content from you two with the other WW2 theaters because of how good these have been.

Joe

Can't wait for them to see The Pacific and Masters of the Air after they watch We Stand Alone, Together ;)

Been loving the reactions to this special show guys! Story time: During the patrol depicted in this episode, Blithe actually spotted the sniper first sitting in a tree. Instead of firing his weapon and taking cover, his instinct from training kicked in and he just yelled out "bang bang", giving the sniper time to react and as a result Blithe was shot through his collarbone. After all the death and destruction, i think Pudgey cracking up in the outro is a perfect way to lighten the mood :D

Daenerys Targaryen

Agreed. I've watched and followed sooo many reaction channels (more so for GoT/HotD reactions) and I can say hands down S&P are the best. The only other channel that comes somewhat close is Studio Gek, but for a few reasons that I can think of, S&P are the GOAT for reactions.

Anton Agassi

Just finished watching your reaction, great vid once again! Band of Brothers can be a tough watch at times but I thought I would give you some info to hopefully cheer you up a bit. Albert Blithe did not in fact die in 1948! Band of Brothers incorrectly states that Albert Blithe died of his war wounds in 1948, but in reality, he died of kidney failure and complications during surgery in 1967. The mistake originated from Stephen A. Ambrose's nonfiction book, which the series is based on, and was never corrected. Blithe live over 20 more years post his valiant involvement in WW2! Hope this brightens up your day a bit 😊

tastymctasterson

Big shout out to Anton Agassi for pointing out Albert Blithe actually lived until 1967. Incredibly, he was able to attend an Easy Company reunion about a week before his death at age 44. From the Wiki of Brothers: "None of the other Easy Company veterans found out what happened to him, and thought that he died in 1948 from his wound. Stephen Ambrose considered this as factual information, and wrote it in his book, causing the Series to relay the same thing at the end of the 3rd episode. This was later refuted by the Blithe family, which led to corrections in Ambrose's subsequent editions of the book, but not the movie or resultant DVDs and BluRay discs."

tastymctasterson

Ah shucks you beat me to it by about 10 minutes lol! Definitely brightens up the mood a little bit!

Hey guys, the soldier that was praying over the dead was a Chaplain. They are officers in the military that are there for religious/marriage/life counseling mostly nowadays from what I saw, they do not carry weapons while in combat. I was in a Cavalry unit when I was in the army, we did something called a Spur Ride, the Chaplain joined my group. During this 2 day field exercise we had to do things like dissemble and reassemble different weapons, he wouldn't even participate in that. If you guys end up watching Generation Kill down the road, you'll see a Chaplain again, and get an interesting view of what some military members think of them.

Helene Ring Teppan

This was brilliant, had to become a Pateron to see every detial of you guys reacting to my favourite series of all time.

Stephen Knueppel

The Airborne were elite troops with a special mission. It would waste them to leave them on the front line for extended periods of time, that's what regular infantry divisions are for. Paratroopers are brought back to England to train, refit and prepare for any airdrop behind enemy lines. Since the battle became very moblie after the breakout from Normandy they needed to be ready to execute any new mission within days instead of the months of planning they had for D-Day
