This was a fantastic episode, but if you think it was a masterpiece, just wait. Most of these episodes are masterpieces. Great reaction!

The beginning of this episode shows perfectly why were the paratroopers spread all over Normandy. They even mentioned this in Saving Private Ryan. Most of the planes wouldnt have survive that long so they dropped early because they were getting destroyed by AAA ( Anti Aircraft Artillery ). Like that veteran said at the beginning they have lost a lot of men. At this phase of the invasion they didnt have any logistics to capture POWs ( prisoners of war ). They were dropped far behind enemy lines to capture key locations like cities, bridges and road intersections. They had to move fast between their objectives in order to be able and prevent the Germans reinforcing the beach as the landing begun. That artillery position they assaulted at Bercourt was firing on the beach as the Allied Forces were landing. Later when the big army lands they will be capturing a lot of prisoners but at this point they didnt have a stable foothold yet. You will see that Winters lead from the front. Whenever he chooses people for roles he is never not in the middle. He tels the flankers to go here, go there then he takes a few men to go up the middle with him. Such a good leader. That last scene with him and the boys in the tent was so much more than just a laugh. At that moment he was their CO ( Commanding Officer ) temporarily and the way things looked he might become their CO for good. I'm sure he looked into every tent and corner to speak a few words with all the guys. He was aware of all the talks that was coming from Guarniere so he drinked a little to put his mind at ease and with that they also put that incident behind themselves when he initiated the assault before his command. Guarniere also saw that he is a good leader, one that can be trusted and counted on when they were in combat. His comment about not being a quaker was there to let him know that he is aware of him shittalking so zip it. But he didnt linger for too long becasue the boys needed some time to rest and release some steam and they cant do that if their CO is around. It's such a short scene but there is so many layers to it. Really good writing, like it a lot.

This is going to be long and I'm sorry for that 😬 but, after watching your first two reactions to this incredible series, I have a few things to share that will bring some clarity to just how REAL everything you are going to see is moving forward Don't worry, NO SPOILERS. The majority of this is just from a production standpoint -there are no STUNT DOUBLES for the main cast. They do absolutely everything themselves!! Some things can't be acted, they must be learned. Which is why… -right before filming the main cast went through a 2 week real boot camp. This is where the majority of them met. The actors were introduced to each other by the name of the real soldier they were portraying. That's the only name they were called by throughout boot camp and into filming. - the man who plays Colonel Sink is actually a REAL retired marine, Captain Dale Dye. He's worked extensively behind the scenes on war and battle sequences in over 50 movies and shows striving to make them authentic as possible… including Saving Private Ryan. He trained that cast in boot camp, too -all the M1 rifles shown are the REAL THING. They bought over 700. The ammunition, while “blanks” was also real. On average around 14,000 blank rounds were shot on set per day. So, this cast of “actors” were properly trained on how to fire, reload, and maintain REAL WEAPONS. -they had “tactical training”, as well. All the hand signals and stuff, that's all real. Instructors and other military personnel stayed in set the entire time to correct, answer questions, or offer instructions on maneuvers and such -the majority of filming took place at one location, Hatfield Aerodrome, and sprawled over a massive 1,100 acres. The most extraordinary and impressive part was the “Village set”. It sprawled about 13 acres. During filming around 2 sometimes 3 villages were built at a time. After filming wrapped up for those parts whatever was left of the site would be demolished and they would beginning building the next. All told, 12 of the real villages/towns Easy Company went to during the war would be built and depicted. Even the trenches from the end of this episode was built EXACTLY to scale of the ones they took out on D Day. The cameraman used a diagram to map out the different angles they wanted to capture before they recreated it so it had to be perfect -the 2 sides (American, British, French vs. German) were kept COMPLETELY away from each other in every aspect. They didn't even see each other on set during “down time” There are interviews with the actors talking about how the very first time they saw German uniforms, weapons, tanks, etc. wasn't until they were “coming straight at us from across the field”. Making it all the more real for everyone involved -for context, there are over 10,000 “extras” and around 500 speaking roles throughout the series I'll end with that (for now). If you're still reading, THANKS lol. There is just so much to be said about this amazing series. Everything about it is top notch from the bottom up and handled with the upmost RESPECT. Simply the best “reenactment” ever created!!
