Congrats on starting your journey!….I myself watch both versions as well I always appreciate the original form of anime but I do find it easier myself to watch English version so whatever version you choose make sure it’s right for you because you will enjoy it a lot more!

Thank you Bryan, appreciate that! We started with the Japanese version but we feel it is easier to do a genuine reaction with the dubbed version because we aren’t trying to balance reading and watching what is happening 🙌🏼👍🤗 we are enjoying both! But I feel like the long haul will be the dub!

I love the dubb for this one. I am both seeing it in dubb and sub bcs I grew up with the dubb. But right now I am watching One piece in subbed bcs I don't want to miss certain things from the anime.

That makes sense! We may do the same thing that’s how much we are loving it 😉

Hey everyone! Just wanted to apologize for the volume in the anime being so low! We will correct that in the next episodes!

Welcome new nakama!!! The anime is definitely a bit slower than the live action in the beginning but I think it sets up certain elements better for bigger payoffs than the live action, and that's saying something because the live action itself packs an emotional punch at those major story beat moments!! As someone who has been watching/reading One Piece for 10+ years, the live action is amazing, but at some parts it did feel like certain story beats were rushed through due to the 8 episode time constraint. To put it in perspective, the manga was 95 chapters to get through where the live action ends and for the anime it was 44 episodes. At 22 minutes an episode that's roughly double the length of the live action. Watching episodes in bunches definitely helps and I'm sure myself and others can tell you certain groups of episodes that are worth watching together instead of separate. As for the switching between the sub/dub, I started watching the dub originally until I ran out of dub episodes to watch and then stayed with the subtitled version the rest of the way, then once I ran out of anime episodes I started to read the manga and have been reading weekly for like 10 years lol. To me the sub just hits so much harder at some of the key scenes but that doesn't mean the dub is lacking, it does in some areas but still is decent overall. I also get the adjustment to reading and watching and it does take some time to get used to, but soon you will find yourself following what's going on easily if you do fully commit to the subtitled version! I don't know if this will help you with immersing into the anime but for me, for any sort of story I always just let myself be taken in and the medium is just the avenue the story is being told to me. Especially with One Piece and it's unique art style, it might feel out of place at first but when you watch the way Oda can use the overly expressive faces to push emotions and convey them in a way that even live action can't do, you will fall in love. Stoked to watch you take this journey and can't wait for your reactions to some of my favorite episodes!!

Very well put!!! 😉 we started in Japanese and switched to dubbed. We feel we will be able to react a bit better and more sincere with the dubbed version! Thanks for sharing and we are very grateful to have you on this journey with us!🫶 NAKAMA
