the way I started this episode out ready to throw hands, only to melt with so many feelings, to being so hear for conversations being had between isak and sana and even and the boys, to being stressed out and panicked, to CRYING, and circling all the way back around to being slightly annoyed with Sonja should be studied 🤣 WHAT AN EPISODE, I HAVE NO WORDS

LOVE YOUR REACTION!! this was such a concerning episode. you could see once they were at the hotel that isak was just wondering wtf even was on about. the next two episodes are incredible - the next one probably the most - it won a lot of awards. also, the bloopers from this season are probably the best out of all of the seasons! can't wait to see them with you! :)

The gym locker room scene in ep 5 will forever be one of my favorite scenes of skam because it is brilliant foreshadowing.
that scene tells us that Even has a mental illness when Even appears so happy to get together with Isak and then Isak says he “does not want mentally ill people around him” and Even’s face completely drops. But Isak and the viewers would not think to take notice of this shift and connect the dots. Then we saw Isak ask about what his parents would think and Even responds “they WOULD have loved you”. one would think this meant his parents are dead cause he’s talking past tense, but he was talking past tense because he knew in that moment that he would have to pull the brakes on their relationship. Which is exactly what he does the next scene when he texts isak telling him that things are moving too fast and he needs time to think. And then we see him go back to Sonja. Because he feels that she is the only person who understands and could handle his mental illness. Since they have been together for 4 years, she was most likely there for his diagnosis. because we spend this season through Isak’s POV, we think that Even is just some guy who is toying around with his feelings for the fun of it. When in reality, Even has just been so scared and struggling to figure things out. no matter how much he tried to hold back his feelings, he couldn’t which is why he would give him those drawings and tried to make small talk. he loves isak so much and wants to be with him so he assumed that he could try things with him again but hide his mental illness so he doesn't lose isak but unfortunately thats just not possible. Sonja was so out of line at the end. i understand she is worried but to get angry with isak when he is clearly upset and overwhelmed is not it. and to imply that Even being in love with isak is just because he is mentally ill is absolutely messed up. fun fact: the creator wrote this scene to be even more brutal. she said that the original script had such a strong reaction to it that she toned it down. i believe skam france's version of sonja confronting isak is closer to the original script, not sure how far off it is. the creator had planned to make season 3 about isak all the way back when writing/filming s1 and said that this specific scene where sonja tells isak that Even is manic was one of the first scenes she had ever thought of for it. so i believe when we find out in like s1 ep 10 that isak's mom has some mental health issues, she had already planned for him to fall in love with someone who had mental health issues as well. just goes to show how execellent writing skam has with a full circle moment being created long in advance!

You really just phrased everything I was going to say perfectly!

I enjoy watching reactions to this particular episode. Most ppl feel the tension and confusion but don't fully react or respond to it until it becomes more obvious in the hotel room scenes. You caught on early, Ryann. I think because you're quite emotionally intelligent. I reckon Most ppl also suspect Even is on drugs, rather than his behaviour being expressions of mental illness. Its a testament to how well-written, acted, and edited the episode is. Those black-out screen edits are super simple yet really effective. I know I felt I was holding my breath watching those scenes the first time.

🥹 thank you!! I knew something was off with the way he was acting, it was so different from how we had seen him before and I didn't really think he was on some kind of drug until the hotel when he seemed all over the place. it really was just such incredible story telling and acting!!

Ryann Rodkey

yes! you really broke it down so incredibly well! it really was foreshadowing done at his best because it was such an obvious reaction that could be interpreted in a ton of different ways when you don't know about Even's struggles, but then once you know, it makes total sense!! Oooh very interesting about the sonja/isak scene! I totally agree, she was sooo out of line! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

ahhh thank you!! concerning is the best word for this episode ever!! I was extremely concerned 🤣 ooooh the bloopers!! 🩶

Everyone's already said pretty much everything I wanted to say, so instead of repeating it I'll just give praise to Tarjei's (Isak) incredible acting! His acting is so good but also subtle, making it feel almost like he's not even acting at all but actually experiencing it. It was so authentic how he first portrayed Isak's confusion over Even in that hotel room scene, then the utter worry when searching for him on the street, and finally the heartbreaking scene at the end when he was just completely broken and devastated after finding out what was going on with Even and Sonja telling him Even didn't actually love him.

Ryann Rodkey

I couldn't agree more! I think it is so important to note how subtle the acting is because in intense scenes, I feel like it can be easy for actors to overact, if that makes sense and really drive a point home, but he really makes it feel real! 🩶
