Welcome to series 2! Shall we measure the success of that opener by the amount of 😯 moments. I counted 4 of em. For those outside the UK. The understandable confusion in the distinction between 'mam' which is reserved for mothers and a respectful address for any woman. And. 'Ma'am' which is the appropriate address for a female officer in the police or armed services, whom is senior to the addressee. Which can sound like mam, marm or even in some cases mum, depending on the regional accent. Not to be commonly confused with the American mom or indeed 'mum' which is the principle choice in most parts of the UK. Which is witch is in the context on how and who is being addressed.
