The fact that this is the second time we've had Rossi find an Unsub that haunted him for years and for it not to be a satisfactory end. The guy who killed those 3 kids' parents back in S3 who turned out to have been a guy who was severely mentally ill and didn't really understand what he had done, and then this guy who ended up being found while he was just kinda pathetic. Both were just completely different to what he expected. Weirdly, to me, seeing the Butcher in that way was sad. Not because of HIM. Like, I had zero sympathy for him, he's awful. But because seeing someone as awful as him going through Alzheimer's and all that just really makes it hit how horrible the disease is and how hard it must be for people to go through. The fact that a monster like him was so affected by it, it's just such a horrible disease and there was just something about it. Again, no sympathy for the Butcher. He's terrible and doesn't deserve sympathy. I feel horrible for the son. He was conditioned into this. Yes, what he did was AWFUL and there isn't actually an excuse. But this is the closest you'll get to one imo. Being totally raised into this sorta thing. Where that's all you know and have been taught your whole life. And the fact that he helped his Dad kill his Mum. It HURTS. He was a kid. He was TEN YEARS OLD! It is so fucked up. Also, I love the side story of Ellie texting Morgan. I really like that they had that happen. I love that they didn't just have her disappear never to be seen again. She has had a HUGE impact on Morgan and it's really interesting to me to see him continue to have a relationship with her because that never happens. It is very rare that any of the characters keep in touch with the people they save, at least on screen.
