The storyline is interesting but the idea is nonsense. Having Homelander and others like him fighting alongside our military would make us absolutely unstoppable. The DoD would jump at the chance and Vought would have been a military contractor from the beginning.

It isn't that they wouldn't be powerful. It's the fact that they are undisciplined and cause massive collateral damage. Also, as pointed out, Vought controls the Supes. They are loyal to Vought over anything else
