Eric writes that evil has been around since the beginning of time. Perpetrated by humans. And in this show, also perpetrated by angels other than Lucifer! Recall Amenediel brings back a damned soul from hell to try to have Lucifer killed! And Uriel wanted to destroy both the Goddess and Chloe with Azriel's blade.... Lucifer thus far has been mischievous - but not outright evil. (well it was bad that he killed Cain - but one could argue slaying that dragon was a necessary evil) My point is the show indicates evil can come from either humans or the celestials. Seems an over riding theme is complete free will to choose your path or actions - which I believe is closer to reality than any religion has things. (and your consequences are of your own making)

I see your point being frustrated about them not talking to each other. But I don't think that they fell back to the status quo of season 1. For the first time they talked as two adults that are equals. They experienced the heartbreak of discovering the faults and flaws of the other. They both had to face their fears. Chloe feared to be insignificant and Lucifer feared that Chloe fears him. So I think this confrontation at the end put everything in the open for both of them. And: both were never good at facing their deepest emotions. Actually, through the seasons we saw both of them evading talking about them.

Cain was trying to kill both of them, so for me that's more a move of self-defense that evil.
