This is a very good episode. I like the fact that they give Emily her own skillset, without trying to overcompensate. She doesn't come in and is an instant bad-ass. She asks questions and watches the process because she needs to learn more. Gideon isn't my favorite character, but the bond between him and Reid is one of the best things of this show. Untill now, I believe we have only seen Gideon and Reid play chess together, so it's a good symbol that he lets Emily be a part of the game. And Paget plays this character very well and you really feel her need to fit in and show the others that she can do this.

This is my favorite episode of the whole series, partly because it introduces Badass Emily, but mostly for the story and the way they solved it. I think it was more poker than chess, though. ;o)

Love Emily! <3 What I love is that they didn't make her completely incompetent as in, no idea what's going on because she's new, but they didn't make her perfect, she still had to ask questions, because she is still a new profiler. She has her own skills, she fits well with the team too. She really does, she fits really well. I also love that while she questions the way Gideon's doing things and all that, she doesn't distrust it, she knows he has experience and all that. I love this episode. It's so good. The way they kinda play us as well as him, we're not in on the plan to trick him with the time, so we're kinda taken by surprise as well. I also really love that they make sure to say that religion isn't bad. That people can believe in whatever religion they do, that no religion makes you a bad person. I always like Gideon's views with religion, because he just gets so upset by the fact that these people use religion as an excuse, and that's really important to me even though I'm not religious. The fact that they don't blame religion, they make sure to say that it's not the religion, it's the person and their circumstances and their personal beliefs as a person, the way they twist religion to their will. Garcia's worry when they saw the explosion was so cute! She loves the team so much, and it must be so hard for her sitting in that room knowing that they're all going out and risking their lives while all she can do is sit there and do things no the computer (that's not to say she's not extremely helpful because she is! It's just that she knows that there's no way she can stop them from getting shot or blown up from there and that must be horrible!) But yeah, the fact that they just kinda brushed over the fact that a SWAT guy died was kinda hilarious... Like, they're all panicked because there was an explosion and Hotch and Morgan could be dead, but then they find out they're both okay but a SWAT guy died and it's like "Oh. Well at least it wasn't someone I care about..." Hahaha (Makes sense though. The team is like a family, they're gonna be relieved to learn they're not dead... But still...) Love seeing Emily and Reid work together. And Emily asking Reid about Gideon and him telling her he trusts him. I just love their dynamic so much. Fun fact (by that I mean, something that pisses me off so much!) Emily was supposed to be a Lesbian and Reid was supposed to be Bi... But the fucking Network was all "Noo! The world isn't ready for LGBT main characters!" But like, we all still see them that way because, well, fuck CBS... (If you didn't get it, I'm pissed at CBS for refusing it, not at the fact that they were supposed to be LGBT... I wish they'd let them...) I felt for Hotch with that fear that his family were in danger. I can't even imagine how horrible that must be. And Haley rescheduling the photos because she wants him there. Aaw! :') The chess game though. Poor Spencer still can't beat Gideon. And him just quitting was hilarious. Then Gideon offering Emily a game. We never see him playing with anyone but Reid, so this was a big step in letting her into the team. I do get why Gideon (and Hotch too at times) is so wary of her though. As it was said in the previous episode, she was raised in Politics. They don't trust Politics, because of lies and stuff and so they're wary of her. Plus, she just appeared with no warning, no one told them about her joining the team and she was just suddenly there. But I am glad they're easing up on her and letting her in a bit... :)

I love Emily so far. I think she brings something unique and interesting to the team. I love that she is skilled in languages and how she was able to tell where the guy was from. they all work so good together. And I get the apprehension since they want to make sure whoever gets the job is there because they have earned it and want to be there and not to impose a certain agenda.

It was so brilliant. I love how they use different tactics to solve a case. Shows how smart they are.
