This show goes over the short stories of Michael’s favorite speculative fiction author and notable curmudgeon Harlan Ellison. Each episode Michael pairs (read: forces a friend to read) a short story with a guest that it “applies especially to.” This episode it’s the short story “‘Repent, Harlequin!’ Said the Ticktockman and the guest is Alex Schmidt.

oh man, I completely missed this episode until now. This is my absolute favorite short story. I did an essay compare contrast this story with MLK's Letters from Birmingham Jail in college. I sometimes just say "jelly...beans?" for no reason, for no one's pleasure but my own. I am so excited to listen to this month's old podcast.

I keep envisioning the alternate title of this story as ' "Get stuffed!" the Harlequin replied.' and it sounds just perfectly pithy, with a shade less gravitas, and a smidge more humour.
