Content

Hello everyone! One year ago today we launched The Dungeon Archive. It has been an intense, fun and rewarding year all along.
We have learned a lot, experimented with new stuff and released a ton of content which we are extremely proud of.

We want to thank you for your support and for being the most amazing community we could wish for. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We couldn't do it without your support and feedback.

Thanks to all patrons, thanks to all followers, thanks to whoever downloaded or played a free map, thanks to whoever upvoted or liked us on social media. Thank you everyone <3.

If you have literally less than 2 minutes we have made this survey. It can help us focus on what you want in the future.

Recap

In this year we have made a new release every single Wednesday. This means 4-5 releases every month, some of them with animated tokens, animated maps, adventures, etc.

  • 53 releases
  • 73 different maps
  • Variants for a total 1124 maps
  • 9 different Modular Map themes
  • 373 modular tiles
  • 7 districts that can be combined with other Modular Maps
  • 5 Very Long Maps (most of them also modular)
  • 2 animated maps
  • 3 phased maps
  • 4 illustrations featuring 8 different characters
  • 14 tokens and animated tokens
  • 4 adventures, of which 3 are one-page adventures
  • A lot of lore, plot hooks and stories
  • A licensed theme song

The future

I don't usually share personal information but this is very good news for the project.
This year has been really challenging. I'm a 2D Animator in the videogames industry and I've been working in both projects for more than a year now. The Dungeon Archive has grown to a point that it requires more than full-time from me to achieve the quality that we strive for. Luckily it now provides a basic and relatively steady income, even though we reinvest a lot of it into making more and cooler stuff.

So I'm very happy to announce that I'll be making the jump to full-time into The Dungeon Archive in the next few weeks. No more insane working hours, which will have a possitive impact in the project itself.

Again, we couldn't do it without you. Thank you for this opportunity. We'll keep working hard to inspire your adventures and release lots of content every week.
And we have a lot of ideas and projects in the making that we hope you enjoy as much as we do.

Plans

  • Keep making at least one illustrated character and animated token every month. These characters in most cases will be inspired by our patrons to thank you for your support.
  • Most likely we will still aim for a release every single week (4-5/month), but in the future we may limit it to four per month temporarily as doing five big and complex releases as we usually do, with characters and adventures and such, is completely insane for the small team that we are and the limited resources that we have. But as the project grows we will increate the number to 6 or more and will be adding more stuff.
  • In the future we may change the release day of the week or even leave it open, because some projects are more complex or time consuming than others.
  • We have tons of stories and ideas that we want to make, and as we said since day one, the more support we get, the more we can reinvest into the project and the more and cooler content we can release every month.
  • We started adding content to The Forge, but it will take a while until all of it is uploaded.
  • This month we still have a couple more free surprises, so I'm sorry for the post spam. We will release a wiki with all our lore very soon so you can navigate it easier than ever and explore all our content visually.
  • In a few weeks we will release something we've been working on during this whole year and finally reveal what "The Dungeon Archive" means. Stay tuned!

Thank you so much again to all of you who supported or followed us on the way.
And thanks to all the friends that collaborated with us during this year designing characters, macros and scripts.
Special thanks to Daenis, who is still carrying this project with such beautiful art.

And as always, have fun! This is just the beginning...
