Cowards are making me feel so important! (Patreon)

Before you read this, I need to assure you that everything is okay, my wife is incredibly strong and understanding and she is currently safe and beyond the clutches of these maniacs. I also want to make it clear that no matter how much these lunatics try to make me hate China, I refuse to let this very dangerous and disruptive group of Chinese people mar my image of the good people and good aspects of Chinese society which made me fall in love with and dedicate so many years of my life to China in the first place.

I've been out of touch with you all for about a week now (as you know we've been in the thick of it in Vietnam), I finally have a chance to sit down and fill you all in on some rather incredible news.

Did you ever think that my videos talking about China and my personal observations on society and life in China would lead to an army of cowards targeting my wife and family? Well neither did I! I guess I underestimated the depths to which the insecure nationalists would stoop, that is until they saw it fit to dox my wife (dig up her real name and her workplace etc) and feel that it was appropriate to spread that information all over the Chinese internet with all sorts of malicious lies attached, add to this the fact that they sent a 23 page official letter to the complaints department of the hospital in which she works accusing her of loving foreigners more than her Chinese patients and that she should be fired for not being patriotic enough, on top of that it was just full of demonstrably blatant lies and nonsense including that she was a national security risk, in fact part of it said that we had mixed children... and then it clicked, this wasn't a document that had been written for her, but a big mixed up document of all sorts of nonsense rumours that can be found on the Chinese internet about me and C-milk and they had mistakenly added the part concerning how C-milk and Vivi have had a child and prefer that their child gets a foreign education, this led me to ask Vivi and C-milk about this and yes, it turns out that a similar letter had been sent to Vivi's old workplace (even though she hasn't worked there for more than 3 years), they still thought they could get her fired from her job since they didn't know she no longer worked there. 

I find it incredibly flattering that my opinion would be worth so much time and effort on the part of these keyboard warriors, the fact that there are presumably thousands of misguided souls dedicating so much time and energy into trying to make me stop telling the truth as I see it is astounding. This old communist tactic of trying to silence people beyond their grasp by kidnapping or threatening their families is probably one of the lowest and most disgusting tactics known to man and unfortunately for them, has the absolute opposite effect on me, this has motivated me to talk even more freely about my experiences and observations regarding China, you see the damage is done, they've reported me as a spy multiple times, contacted the police to try and get my visa revoked multiple times, brigaded and attacked my videos and comments section multiple times and none of it worked and so they went after my wife, doxing her and trying to get her fired from her job which she has worked incredibly hard her whole life to get. I must point out that this didn't work either since the hospital administration is not stupid and the fact that the 23 page letter was basically a long letter bitching about me and how badly I keep "Hurting the feelings of the Chinese people" it failed to at any point actually prove that my wife was an incompetent doctor, the letter even ended with the rather comical "we will pay for the plane ticket to send that foreigner home". So, it was dismissed as garbage and any further complaints of a similar nature will now also be dismissed as her hospital has been briefed on the situation and are well aware of the misguided malice aimed at both myself and my wife.

Here is where you come in, these lunatics have to varying degrees of success disrupted my life and income, but the one constant that has kept me afloat and able to provide for Sasha and myself is you, my Patreons. I know I often express gratitude to you all, but I don't want you to think that it's just some sort of nonsense and empty gesture, I genuinely do rely on your generosity to keep doing what I'm doing and as we move forward, no matter how positive or neutral my videos may be, there is now a dedicated group who is trying to destabilise and silence me, their minds are made up and I'll need your support more than ever in the coming months.

I still have a lot of good to say about China, but also a lot of serious topics to cover too. Right now I have to get my head back in the "Vietnam" game and you can look forward to our first on the bikes Vietnam episode tomorrow afternoon.
