Panda shaped vehicles in China! (Patreon)

China sure loves Panda bears! I was always very amused at the panda-shaped e-bikes that you see buzzing around in the 3rd tier cities of China.

Sure they may be considered cute but I doubt that you'd be able to sell anything like this other than in China (unless it's for children), but you see adult men and women buzzing around on these things... and it doesn't even stop there, there are Panda Shaped Cars! Yes, when I was buying my Chinese car, the salesman was trying to convince me to buy the Geely LC (Panda)

It's one of the most ridiculous cars you'll ever see on the road, with a dopey looking panda face and the rear lights shaped like "Panda Paws"

I have to say that this is probably (although the basic car is a copy of a Toyota yaris / chevy spark chassis and engine) a very unique Chinese design, the outlook and cosmetics are as Chinese as they get and this little car gets a lot of love in China.

I personally think it's hideous (but that's just me) and to be honest, my Chinese car doesn't look any better but at least it's not shaped like a daft looking Panda.

Would you ever buy one of these? They cost around 7,300USD new (at least when I was buying my Chinese car in 2010). 

I started writing this post absolutely hating these panda shaped bikes and cars, but to be honest with you, by the end of writing it I've changed my mind, I'm glad that China has attempted to break from the norm and follow its own design cues! As long as they never make the Chery QQME again!
