Very early on you will discover just how important photos are in China, I know that these days there's a big selfie culture (especially with smartphones getting better and better), but China takes it to another level... I often joke with my close Chinese friends that if I took all the photos that they take of their kids and flipped through them quickly I would be able to see a stop-motion real-time movie of their kids growing up before my eyes! Seriously, photos are more important than experiences in China, but this post is all about posing for photos!

That's a probably 26 or 27 year old me just doing a normal pose for a photo with a student back when I was the vice-principal of a large training center (there are some serious stories about that experience).

You soon learn that in China a pose is almost a must for every photo and the "V" for victory pose is the most common, however a very close runner up is the "Handsome boy" pose which seems to have originated in Japan but is incredibly popular in China.

The "Handsome boy" pose is done by pointing your finger and thumb out as if you were mimicking a gun and then placing that below your chin, like so:

It may seem incredibly cheesy and odd at first, but it's all part of the culture in China and so next time you're taking a photo with your Chinese (or Asian) friends, try the "Handsome boy" pose and I'm sure you'll get a few laughs and some respect.

See you all in the next video (looking a lot older) and until then, as always:

- Stay Awesome!

Pretty funny! That’s why Sasha always pose with a “V” in her pictures.
