I don't understand why people act like the sequel trilogy is worse than the prequel trilogy. Maybe it's because they're more invested in the returning characters. And prequels don't really change future events. But I'm certainly in the minority for putting "Revenge of the Sith" in last place. I consider "The Mandalorian" the best SW-related thing since "The Empire Strikes Back." One thing that gets me about the franchise is that most of the entries end on an unhappy note. And of course, the galaxy is NEVER without war, tyranny, or abject corruption. It can be fun to visit vicariously, but I wouldn't want to live on any of those planets.

They made three great movies with so-so technology, and then a bunch more that were for me, forgettable. Also, all the TV series were mundane with the exception of The Mandalorian.

We use the Thumb Wars line about "use the computer, Luke …" an awful lot around here.

“Star Wars” has always been agreeable, beautifully filmed nonsense. Frankly, it disturbs me to think that there are adults that take it any more seriously than “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Me, I’m looking forward to the newly announced animated “Babylon 5” movie, and, God willing, the still-under-discussion live-action “Babylon 5” reboot for the CW.

I consider the first movie to be the best. First, it was good enough and profitable enough to not only cause investors etc to back new episodes, but, between Star Wars and the early Star Trek movies, it opened the doors to decently developed sci-fi movies and TV shows. (Granted it also opened the doors for every schlump with a video camera to try his/her hand at sci-fi flicks, like they thought it would be easy.) The other good thing about it, it was a good and complete story as is. If they had never made a single sequel, it would still have stood the test ot time. Everything since then has been so inter-related that you really need to see all the main movies, and most of the peripheral feldercarb to be able to understand anything. I realize that the main impetus in film-making, no matter how artsy it might be, is to make money. And I appreciate that even with that being the ultimate motive, they have still made some really, really good movies, especially of the super hero genre. I'm only glad that I've lived long enough to have witnessed the special effects finally surpass my 10 year old imagination. And the first Star Wars was a happy part of that.

I agree with most people I've seen with an opinion that "The Empire Strikes Back" is the best of the movies. I really liked "Andor"; it did an excellent job of portraying the Empire as both evil and competent.

I heard "Dum dee dum..." as the Imperial March, not Taps.
