King Mog's Musings – September 16th, 2020 (Patreon)

Hello Patrons! How are you doing? 

I thought it was time for an update. I have not written one of these since March. My bad! I hope that your lives are a little more “normal” now than they were earlier this year. It has been a crazy ride for sure. Anyway, I’m going to go over some things, so let us jump right into it. I will aim to keep this reasonably short! After all, I’m not Alan XD.

UPCOMING EVENTS: We are still progressing and planning. Honestly my number one aim right now is to deliver Le Pom in Montreal. We have tens of thousands of dollars at stake and we want to get the event done, while obviously keeping everyone safe. As of right now, I think we might just be able to pull it off if things hold. As of this post, events are still restricted in Quebec but all we can do is hope that things will improve.

Retropom is obviously anyone’s guess right now. We are still 100% committed to making the event happen, but I’m pleased we’ve pushed tickets to January. It will allow us more time to review and plan. Rest assured we are working on lots of different backup plans. We have got all sorts of ideas based on different COVID-19 scenarios/outcomes. We’ll keep rocking! We’re not giving much thought to events further down the line just yet but let us hope we will be back to regular scheduling by then. 

TRIPOM: We’ve got some really exciting stuff incoming for Gen 5. The most exciting update is the introduction of categories. I’ll be expanding on this in posts in the weeks ahead and I’ll provide a complete overview in a KupoCast this winter. We’re prepared to power on with TriPom regardless of physical events taking place. In fact, we had aimed to hit 250 cards in the main series by the end of Gen 5. We could be looking at 300+ if we can keep up this momentum. TriPom is one of our most expensive projects. If you receive monthly boosters or you've purchased packs in the store, then thank you. You are directly contributing to the funding of this mammoth project. 

ONLINE: So, we have The Crystals in two weeks. I’m making steady progress. I received the voice-overs for the awards today. We’ll begin to piece together the stream over the next few days. I’m really looking forward to it. I’m sure you’ve all seen the promo card by now? As with all promo cards it will be available as a freebie for those who make a purchase of $50 or more in the KupoCon store during the weekend of the gala. Pomline III is also being worked on. We already have guests who want to do it. We’ve got multiple new products going into the store for both of these events. Be sure to check Patreon for updates on the 1st of each month. 

FINAL THOUGHTS: COVID-19 has certainly taken its toll. My biggest concern is production costs. We really want to continue to deliver regardless of whether we have physical events. We want to continue to produce merch, expand the TriPom collection, host free online events and create more patron-only projects, but to do that we rely on ticket and merch sales. Since March we’ve been relying solely on the funds of Patreon and our online store...and right now we’re doing pretty good. We’re hoping to increase our Patreon following in the months ahead so we can ramp up and push ahead into 2021. We have a huge list of things we want to do. We plan to introduce a new Patreon offering when we hit 300 pledges.
