I love that we're getting a speed run to Holo's feelings and Lawrence is like 👁👄👁

This episode feels like a love letter to all the fans, I'm surprised they animated this episode in the first place but they REALLY put their effort into this one. Originally it was just a comedic direct-to-dvd special that bridged the first and second seasons, but they went above and beyond here. The author hadn't created the little girl yet so she wasn't part of this episode or the cameo in ep 1, Holo was represented more like an animal "in heat" and wanting to "mate" (they toned it down this time), the art style got an upgraded treatment in the budget etc. As for the plot, Lawrence ain't dumb, he knows Holo LIKES the bratty back and forth. He's not being dense or ignorant, they're playing with each other. Holo likes to "win the argument", but she'd get bored if someone was truly an idiot or too submissive, she's a brat but she wants to feel triumphant; Lawrence understands her so he gets her worked up and then he plays the fool so she can feel proud of herself. They teased themselves into a relationship but they both know what's going on. They're literally playing

I also think that Lawrence just cant compute that the ancient wise wolf would NOT be above jealousy.

I love the bit at the end where Holo is indirectly asking for the best way to control Lawrence to which Nora basically answers - without knowing its about Lawrence - to just be a loving person which in turn leaves Holo stunned. I also think her talking about Lawrence being the only person yet in her life bringing her good smelling stuff with a smile is kind of overlooked yet so important. Every other being has - pressumably - given her attention/gifts only because they wanted something back in return. It never was for her as Holo the person, but only for the "Wise Wolf of Yoitsu" so she can be useful to them. It's the first time somethings given to her freely, for Holo the person. Imagine living like that for centuries. Your own person gets reduced to 0.
