Hi guys! Here are the tabs, backing track, and MIDI file for my metal cover of Final Fantasy 7's boss theme!

Let's go over some of the parts here!

Rhythms:

Style - technical and thrashy

Difficulty - 4/5

Our rhythms here are quite some riffs! That being said, if you're a newer player, you can still totally nail these if you take it slowly.

We begin with our main riff which sets off the triplet feel for the whole arrangement. We then modulate it up to the key of C and that sums up our main riff here!

We then go into our bridge which is more about the lead guitar here, we play some really fun chords to bring a dense backing to the melody.

We now have a super fun thrashy verse riff where our iconic lead melody takes place. We're just jamming on the A power chords here in a triplet palm mute feel.

Then finally we our chorus where we're continuing the thrashiness but now in the heavy key of D. This whole rhythm arrangement is about the heavy palm muting and keeping that triplet swing feel!

Leads:

Style - arpeggios, alternate picking

Difficulty - 4/5

Our leads here start off with the iconic main riff that will later be played by the rhythms. Then we get into our first MAIN lead; the bridge.

The bridge melody is quite something here. We're building up some crazy chords 1 note at a time and moving our shapes up the fret board in these really fun shapes. It's all about getting some super clean picking here making sure every note in these chords are accounted for.

Now we have our verse melody which I bet many of you came here to learn. It's one of the most fun lead parts pretty much ever. It's all alternate picking and staying in a relatively similar shape. It's just pure fun and pure shred!

For our pre-chorus, we up the insanity a bit and build these wacky arpeggios but our harmony guitars are doing the main leads and its a much more melodic part on the harmonies here.

Now for our chorus, we have another amazing melody and it's probably the easiest melody in the piece. That being said, it's still pretty wild here. We just have some really fun shapes to work with here.

Finally we have our solo which is pretty dang crazy to try and fit with the intensity of the rest of the cover. We start off with a blazing fast descending lick and then build it up back up to another descending lick that ends with a motif that very loosely resembles the main riff in bombing mission ;)

That's about it! I hope you guys enjoy these riffs and licks. IF you have any questions, feel free to send me a message on here or on my discord server.

Thanks and rock on!

~ Jack
