Hey everyone! Here are the tabs, backing track, and MIDI file for my metal cover of Rival Schools "The School Yard of Taiyo High School" theme! We have some super fun rhythms here and some very straight forward leads that get a little bit bluesy in here and have some more bending action then I normally do!

Rhythms:

Style - 9th chords

Difficulty - 2/5

Our rhythms here start off with some fat chords and then with a little melodic tail end that's a tad bit challenging. We then go into our breakdown riff which is a ton of fun and super crushing sounding.

Following the breakdown we enter our verse where we hold out some fun melodic chords and trade off with the left and right rhythm guitar some little melodic licks. We then build on the progression adding in some 9th chord arpeggios to fill it out.

Finally we have our chorus which busts out some galloping picking and some 9th chords. This will challenge your picking hand for the first time in the arrangement. It ups the difficulty on the 2nd half of the chorus as we do straight 16th notes here.

Finally we have our 2nd breakdown which we increase the pace of our chugs and do some djent-style picking here. This part is a ton of fun but it's all about getting it right so take it slow at first if you're new to this style of playing!

Leads:

Style - bluesy bends

Difficulty - 2/5

We start off with a super fun melodic harmony here that ends with a tasty bend. Following that we have our breakdown that we pick some octaves here and go up the B minor scale.

Now we have our verse with some pentatonic blues playing doing that tasty flat 5th bend from the 4th. Bluesy as heck and a ton of fun. Our harmonies play the same thing harmonized immediately after.

Now we have our chorus where we play some 2 note chords filling out the melody here. We then double that with the harmonies and incorporate some hammer on's and pull offs on the harmonies as well.

Finally we have our solo which starts off with a tasty pentatonic bend and then goes down a super fun arpeggio here with a little slide. We immediately burst into some 3-note hammer on passages which will definitely incorporate your pinky and stretch that fretting hand out. And to end the solo, we do a quick burst of tapping here going all the way up and down super quick.

That's about it!! I hope you all have a blast learning some of these riff and licks. If you have any questions, feel free to message me either on here or on my discord server!

Rock on and have fun!!
