Hey everyone! Here is the completed video for my METAL COVER of Rival Schools' "The School Yard of Taiyo High School" theme requested by Lightning Zan!

This is such an awesome ps1-era VGM theme that goes hard as heck even in it's original form! It was so much fun working with this arrangement mainly due to it being already super melodic and heavy but it surprisingly allowed a TON of room for me to add my own original parts to it without compromising the original. Usually when themes are already super metal like this, I have a tad less wiggle room but this felt like the best of both worlds here!

It was a really nice change of pace here taking on a theme like this that's a bit more mid to slow paced and taking a break from some of the more insane bangers I've been doing recently. there's a lot of different ways to play guitar and going super fast is just one of the many fun ways to play. It was really fun to do some more blues-inspired leads here paying homage to the original melodies. the solo in particular was SO much fun cause I really tried to tone down the shredding and do some more melodic playing here.

Overall I had such a blast working on this awesome theme and I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it.

It's time to take on such an amazing theme from the Rival Schools series! This theme encapsulates so much of what awesome VGM is all about. Things such as opening up with an insanely catchy melody that gets stuck in your head all day, and then immediately going into an AWESOME build up section. The composition on this theme made it so much fun to arrange in a metal format. The original is already set up like an awesome metal song but it still let me add a ton of original parts to it without (I think) compromising the original TOO much. It was fun to do some left and right interplay with the rhythm guitars on the build up and I even went for it and put some flanger effects on my guitars during the breakdown later on. Something that I rarely ever feel brave enough to do haha. It felt so perfect here though. Overall I had such a blast putting this awesome theme's arrangement together and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.
