Hey guys! Here is the finalized video for my metal cover of Castlevania III's BEGINNING theme!

I'm so stoked on how this turned out. I've been wanting to do this theme for such a long time and it got especially nuts when I'd be live streaming and get a handful of requests for it in my chat and i'd just be like "ugggg I need to do this" haha

So finally here we are!! I dove deep into this arrangement knowing that it would be pushing my technical abilities to some crazy levels. Castlevania arrangements in general always make me want to riff super hard and come up with some very fast and technical parts to make it very tech-deathy. I'd say this was definitely one of the most challenging recording and filming sessions I've done in a while! maybe since my last Castlevania cover haha.

I didn't want to mess with too many things and stray too far from the original in terms of the lead guitars but for the rhythms and drums I went pretty crazy. The drums in particular I had a ton of fun with switching up some timing things (half time for some parts, double time for others etc etc.)

Also the mixing process was such a blast because I finally invested in some compressor / limiter plugins from Joey Sturgis Tones that I've been eyeballing since January when they came out with them and DAMN do they sound good! I definitely think this is my clearest and fattest mix I've had so far and I've heard a few of you guys say that as well so i'm so happy about that.

I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it and thanks so much for the amazing support of my video game metal! Huge metal love to you guys and I hope you guys have a kick ass week!!

I've been wanting to do this theme since I started making video game covers! It's such an iconic piece of vgm that just beggsss for a metal cover! The itch to cover this really started kicking in when I would be doing some live twitch streams recently and I'd get numerous requests for this theme. Then I'd realize I haven't done it yet! Well now here we are and damn, am I proud of this! I wanted to keep this one very similar to my Bloody Tears cover in that I really bring in the technical metal aspect into it and really up the tempo to just give it this siiick death metal vibe. The original really lends itself to that vibe and I love getting the chance to really push my playing to the most absurdly technical heights and hopefully be able to pull it off. I'll definitely say that this was one of the hardest recording / filming sessions I've done in a while!! I'm happy it's for a series that really deserves that challenge! I had such a blast putting this together and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!
