Dear Patrons,

I am pleased to present the world premiere of 'Five Great Viking Deaths' with Prof. Tom Shippey, I hope you enjoy!

You'll see that I had some extra help with this one, so big thanks to my old friend Chris (camera), Milek (art), the Holy Rood Church and Tom himself.

(Lord of the Rings fans may know that Tom is also one of the world's leading authorities on JRR Tolkien, whom he knew personally).

As I mentioned, I've been wanting to make a video about this topic for a couple of years, but it's only now with your help on Patreon that I felt able to do it justice. I very much hope you enjoy the result. In a few days I'll also post a Patreon-exclusive video with bonus interview clips, including Tom's thoughts on the Valhalla myth (spoiler: it's why I didn't call this video 'Road to Valhalla' which was my first idea!)

After a short break, I'll be back to work on the next installment of Napoleon's Marshals, which should be out in late January. I'll also have the Apollo Program Part 1 around the same time, which promises to be a spectacular visual treat.. updates and screenshots coming soon.

In the meantime have a very Happy New Year, and thank you for your support!

Toby

Absolutely fantastic! You have excelled yourself again Toby, my friend... The expert analysis by Prof. Shippey made this video even more engrossing. He is obviously very passionate about his chosen subject, and his contribution fit seamlessly with Charle's (always superb) narration and your writing, artwork and production etc. I live just down the road from Stamford Bridge, and many a time I have sat on the bank of the Derwent and imagined being in the midst of that ferocious battle. Keep up the amazing work, and I wish you and all my fellow Patreons a happy and healthy New Year...

Thank you, very glad to hear how much you enjoyed this one, and interesting to hear that you're so close to the battlefield! A happy and healthy New Year to you too.
