Recently finished working on a proper fuel system, that uses 'item containers' with amount of fuel in each container represented as the durability bar instead of simple stackable items.

Changes:

  • No fuel from gas pumps;
  • No fuel from scrapping wrecked vehicles;
  • Fuel can be found as part of loot or as a trade item;
  • Multiple different fuels with different properties (Efficiency). For example, aviation grade Jet Fuel will be the most efficient one of them all. Certain vehicles accept only certain type of fuel, for instance, Gyrocopter will accept only [Jet Fuel] or [Gasoline], but not [Biofuel] or [Diluted Gasoline], since they could make the vehicle inoperable.
  • Consuming fuel & refilling a weapon, vehicle or power generator will yield an [Empty Fuel Can] once one is depleted in the process;
  • Fuel requires [Empty Fuel Can] to be filled in. If you try to unload, for example, a chainsaw and you don't have enough empty fuel cans in your inventory to fill up, the excess will be "spilled" on the floor and basically wasted.
  • Fuel items don't stack, but empty fuel cans do stack and can be used as part of crafting recipe to craft more fuel out of raw components similar to vanilla.
  • Fuel item's weight is calculated based on how much fuel is left in the container + the weight of the container.
  • Molotov cocktails are crafted from grain alcohol and the recipe is much cheaper (more realistic)
  • New fuel system is supported by power generators, weapons, that use fuel, vehicles.

Here's some screenshots showing the fuel items:

Details section of the item shows the following information:

  • Fuel amount in the selected item container
  • Fuel efficiency (Baseline is the regular gasoline with 100% efficiency)
