For many of you, this post won't make much sense.  Most of what happens on this Patreon is fiction writing, and this brief diversion into board game things, no matter how much fiction writing is in them, may seem alien.  Bad news, though; you may see more of this in the future.  Unless you *like* the Arkham Horror card game, in which case, *good news*!

_____

Multiple years ago, I released the custom scenario "The Grand Oak Hotel".  It was, in my personal opinion, *fine*.  But over the last couple of years, Arkham has changed.  We've seen so many new ideas, new player cards, new *styles of play*, that the game is fundamentally different than the one that I made the scenario for.

Also it had a lot of typos!

So, I went over the old scenario and tuned it up.  Gave it a little face lift.  This isn't exactly in the same vein as the official 'return to X' scenarios, it's more of just a long list of patch notes.  But it does incorporate a couple big ideas, and also makes the scenario a lot more playable without having to decipher weird rules questions.  And I wanted to share a couple of those ideas here as a bit of a preview for those interested.

The Grand Oak hotel is a supposedly peaceful place.  After all, the concierge always asks to lock up your weapons before sending you to your room.  Previously, there was only really one real reason to ignore that request and smuggle something in, but now, we have another *big* problem that investigators may run into.

To ease the burden of that rather large problem, though, many of the encounter cards now affect nobody!  Nobody at all.  Which is to say, the cards are entirely Nobody's problem.

Only one somebody can ever be Nobody.  But nobody can help Nobody.  Or rather, only Nobody can help Nobody, because Nobody has to help themselves, because everybody else will be busy helping somebody.  *ahem*.  Right.  But, if you can make it through, solve the mystery, save the hotel, save *yourselves*, and get out alive, well...

The gift shop has some lovely reminders of your trip.

So book your trip and mark your calendars.  And if you'd like the print-ready files, well,  The Grand Oak has plenty of vacancies available for you.
