Hi everyone!

I know x-men is going to become more important with marvel and i’ve been hearing a lot of good things about x-men 97 and was thinking it could be a good natural replacement for invincible when we finish that.

HOWEVER. I dont know anything about x-men and wanted to check in with yall. Is there a good foundation to start with? I’ve heard iffy things about the movies but I also can’t imagine myself watching the series without at least watching ONE movie?

Let me know your thoughts and advice! Thanks!

Should watch the important animated episodes. Then the 97 show. Then watch the movies

I do recommend at least watching one X-Men film so you have a basic understanding of the world and characters. X-Men (2000) would be a good starting point but I see nothing wrong with watching X-Men 97 by itself. You already know the basics of the Marvel universe and X-Men 97 exists within a world with The Avengers, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, etc. Closer to that of the comics so you already know more than you may think. X-Men 97 does an amazing job at filling you in on certain events without feeling like it's talking directly to the audience. So for people going into the show with zero insight into X-Men in general it does a good job at keeping it friendly for new fans. Marvel now owns the rights to the X-Men so they'll be important moving forward. Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) will officially be the first X-Men related MCU project while X-Men 97 is connected to the MCU by the Multiverse, also a product of Marvel Studio/Animation. So regardless you'll meet the X-Men down the line soon with the direction Marvel is going at the moment. It would be handy to watch X-Men (2000) even if you don't plan on watching the show. X-Men 97 is just the best depiction of these characters outside of the comics so that's why everyone's been highly recommending it over the films. It's also just a damn good show so you'll love it.

I love the Cable 2 parter, Bishops introduction & then the whole Phoenix saga. I’m going through the show with my dad as we watch 97 & it’s fun
