Metallica lost their fire after And Justice For All.... . They are barely a metal band at this point and arguably just a heavy rock band. The writing has been awful. Kurt plays these unimaginably boring solos. Honesty, James's vocals carry most of the newer songs if you can get past the wierd grrr thing he does constantly. The Black Album I give a pass because at the time it came out pretty much all the Thrash bands were trying to become more mainstream. I remember seeing Them open up for Ozzy on their Master of Puppets album and they were really good. I caught them again for their And Justice For all Tour and it was still pretty good. I went to see them on the Load tour ugh....it was so boring it lacked any real fire you would expect from a Thrash band. If you want to see and hear a band be Meh. Go see a Metallica concert... It's the most uneventful concert possible these days.

Metallica will always get mixed reviews. For some weird reason, the haters are as passionate as the fans about their music. Anyway, I love Metallica but I have to agree here. The new songs sound uninspired. They're not bad but they're bland. And Kirk's solos sound very uninspired, which is weird considering that he sounded unleashed on his solo EP last year. Still, I'll listen to the album hoping it's better than the singles. I'll see them live on the coming tour as their shows are some of the best in the world.

Sad but true....pun intended! Well put. Much love for their first few albums, but Load and on are just bad. I am actually not even a fan of 'Ride the Lightning', just everything else before 'Load'
