Who else has seen this film!? I watched it last night and it simultaneously both rocked and wrecked my world. I think it’s the best thing I’ve seen in theatres in a long time. Who else has seen it and what did you think!? (If you haven’t seen it yet please avoid the comment section of this post ‘cause *spoilers*, and then run-don’t walk- to see this film!)

I DID see it. I was so excited to see it, I went on opening day. I thought it was SO much fun! And the core story was really beautiful; the way they were able to put a heartfelt, simple story of a deteriorating family in such an abstract premise and somehow make them compliment each other. Michelle Yeoh was so amazing, both as an actress and as a martial artist (as usual). And I loved seeing Ke Huy Quan back in a mainstream film, too. He was so great as Short Round in Temple of Doom and Data in Goonies and then, after a few smaller parts, he was gone. I hope we get to see more from him. That's not to take away from the rest of the cast. Jamie Lee Curtis' character was such a departure from what I'm used to seeing her play, and I even felt empathy for a couple versions of her near the end, even though she was such a pill for most of the movie -lol. Stephanie Hsu broke my heart as the daughter. She transitioned between each of her versions so seamlessly, and even though a BIG part of her was the antagonist I couldn't help but sympathize with her cynicism. Just wanting to be accepted for who you truly are seems like such a small request and yet it carries with it so much consequence when it's disregarded. And they let her "real" daughter parallel that same sentiment with her mother who was ALSO weighed down by her own need for acceptance from her father. The whole movie was so layered. I may actually go again next Wednesday. I'm so glad you liked it :)

The person I saw it with didn't even realize the IRS agent was Jamie Lee Curtis until the end credits. And then there's the hot dog fingers...Lol

Weird coincidence. Going to see it this weekend. Kind of a A24 fanboy. Still want to see X and Men when it comes out. What I’ve also heard is good, and like Everything Everywhere All At Once is Apple TV’s Severance. (Still yet to see) lol

Sadly it doesn’t release here in the UK until May 13th but I will be waiting in anticipation that’s for sure, I just caught a YouTube ad for it and it looks absolutely wild😂✨

Theatre ... theatre ... isn't that one of those places only old people still go to? How adorably retro.

Cool! It will premiere on May 22nd over here in Sweden. So, I will definetly watch that one. I'm really excited for May in general as well! Because that's when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is premiering. On the 4th to be exact. Also, Stranger Things 4: Volume 1 will be premiering on May 27th on Netflix, so I am the most excited for that one😁

I saw it the weekend came out, and since it was an A24 film (I'm a huge fan), I was anticipating it for weeks. It sure is a masterpiece (and I don't use that word lightly)! The story is kinda unique, the cinematography is amazing, it had laughter and will tug at your heart as well. My local AMC theater will have it in IMAX this weekend and I am definitely gonna go see it again! I cannot wait to own the disc and so I can see it again and again. It's easily my favorite film of the last decade.

OMG okay ngl that entire movie I sat there and thought... "That looks so much like JLC" 🤣 Wow she really dove into that character I did not realize that was actually her! So cool. She's amazing. I agree with all of your sentiments and I also love that the movie really preached the message "nothing matters" and used that philosophy in their writing and cinematography as well. It was so random but so wonderful at the same time... just like life!

Omg Jordan you will LOVE this movie. You'll have to keep me posted when you go see it

I couldn't agree more! I actually used that exact sentence when talking to a friend about it, "Easily the best thing I've seen in theaters in the past decade"! The marriage of absolute ridiculousness and absolute genuineness was so refreshing. Love, love, loved it.

The googly eyes encompass that sentiment perfectly. It's all just a random series of events happening while you're SO focused on controlling the few things you actually can, and that's OK. It's like John Lennon paraphrased, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Just appreciate it all, the good and the bad, because each decision you've made has given you every good thing in your life today :)
