Hey guys!

As announced in my earlier roadmap post today, here is Search Everywhere (Ctrl+F search), freshly ported to Anki 2.1.

For those of you new to this add-on: Search Everywhere adds a convenient search bar to all important Anki windows that allows you to quickly search through your content. This can come in handy especially when you're looking though longer cards or cards with a lot of extra text / resources on the backside.

To draw up the search bar you can simply use Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F on macOS).

Aside from Anki 2.1 support, this latest updated of the add-on also packs a number of other changes. The full changelog follows below:

Changelog for v0.2.0-beta.1

Added

  • Anki 2.1 support (thanks in large part to @ijgnd!)
  • Configurable hotkeys

Changed

  • The default hotkeys for jumping to the next/previous matches are now Ctrl+G and Ctrl+Shift+G (Cmd+G / Cmd+Shift+G on macOS)
  • When the search field is focused, you may alternatively use Ctrl+Return/Ctrl+Shift+Return in the Reviewer, or Return/Shift+Return anywhere else

Notes

  • Please note that the search results will also extend to field names and Anki's web UI. This is unavoidable, unfortunately.

Ready to give the add-on it a try yourself? Then head over to the download post that should be coming up in a second!

As usual with these smaller Anki 2.1 ports, Search Everywhere will remain a Patreon exclusive for a bit before hitting AnkiWeb.

(This week's exclusive that's hitting AnkiWeb will be External Note Editor for the Browser. If you enjoyed it, please consider leaving a 👍 like on the add-on page. I'd really appreciate it! And thanks so much again for helping me test it over the past few weeks!)

Make sure to stay tuned for the big releases that are coming up over the next couple of weeks!

Thanks again and all the best,

– Aristotelis (Glutanimate)
