AnJoy – Native Gamepad Support for Anki! (Patreon)
Content
If you've been using Anki for a while, you know that sitting at your desk while clutching your keyboard & mouse can get tiring very quickly. It's no surprise then that people have found many creative ways to control Anki over the years, be it through their phones, gamepads, or even drum sets! But as inventive as all of these solutions might be, they all require third-party tools and a lot of work in advance to set things up.
AnJoy seeks to change that. For the first time ever it brings native support for gamepads and controllers to Anki – Sit back and enjoy your reviews, without being tied to your desk, and without the set-up and headaches that other solutions bring.
Start now by watching the intro video and tutorial above! The download link will be coming right up for all supporters at the Add-on Aficionado tier and up.
Important Compatibility Notes
Because AnJoy depends on modern technologies to facilitate gamepad communication, it only supports Anki 2.1.
Concerning controller support: As there is a huge ecosystem of game peripherals out there, it is difficult to guarantee that AnJoy will work with every controller imaginable, but the idea is for the add-on to at least support the most common variations. These primarily include first-party controllers for Xbox™ and PlayStation™.
To verify that your controller will be supported by AnJoy ahead of installing it, please first visit this test page and try your controller out. Only controllers that are recognized by that page will also work with AnJoy.
For a general overview of how to connect your controller to your machine, please refer to one of the many tutorials online. I've found this Gizmodo article to explain things pretty well.
Thanks again for your awesome support that made this add-on possible in the first place!
