A bunch of drawings I've been hoarding over the past week or so. :) Assorted things. 70's hairstyles, some drawing of a cartoony Poppy, and the beginnings of some harlequin clown shenanigans :)

Lately I've been most interested in finding ways to push the cartooniness of the way I draw faces so that my characters can feel more like distinctive people. I think every artist has their tendencies, I am partial to drawing noses and mouths in a particular way, but I'm often out in the world and struck my some stranger's really unique attractiveness and that's something I'd like to capture.

I've been really into manga and anime influences this year and by in large, there isn't a ton of variety in anime/manga faces. Things tend to be refined down to a certain type of face and you moreso distinguish characters by their design. And then I watched Roujin Z:

I love this cast of characters and I am so envious of how distinctive they are. It immediately reminded me of how I'm always so fascinated by the weird, un-idealized faces of npcs in TotK.

It's really fun to super-hotties, but I really like how unique these normal ass looking folks are and I think it's going to be a pet project of mine to try to bring out the unique features in faces more and more in the future.

I always need some sort of vague creative goal to work on in the background and I think this could improve my work a lot as well as set it apart some.

Happy Wednesday!

It’s interesting hearing you talk about how you wish that your characters were more distinct, because I’ve always thought that the characters you draw are so unique and very fleshed out in their own ways and memorable. Your style and the way you draw your catchers is what I love so much about your art 💖

Thank you Rico! I suppose that it's always been something I care about but every once in a while I see something someone else's work that inspires me with some new potential to aim towards 😤 it's a never ending cycle. But it's nice to know that the things that are important to me in my work are also the qualities that others enjoy about it ♥️

Absolutely love how some of these faces are so expressive even though they're made of 3 or 4 strokes, so so good!
