Prudence x Eileen Kiss Wallpaper (Patreon)

I had the idea to parody Gibson's "Wall Paper Suitable for a Bachelor Apartment" from early on in the project and then the idea of using it as an endsheet pattern clinched it as being something both fun and useful.

I've had this print hanging on my studio wall for the duration of this project also, just as a constant reminder of how good Gibson was at drawing hair 😔

I first started with two sketch directions, first of portraits and one of lewd full figures. They both seemed like fun directions but ultimately I settled on the heads just because it seemed sweeter

I learned doing a double portrait made the pattern a bit more finicky because they don't fit as readily into the diamond shape that makes creating patterns a bit more manageable. Gibson's wallpaper is almost created like a tesselation the way the heads are a consistent light bulb shape.

I started with 4 separate couples portrait drawings and then just kept on finessing them to fill space and not having any glaring repetitions. I briefly worked at a game studio as a 2D/3D generalist and one of the hardest things ever was making tiling grass textures that had interest without repetitions.
