There's this brush I downloaded for CSP called "Flashito" which has this fantastic kinda chiselly very direct quality to the brush. It's also pretty flexible for painting when adjusting the blending, although truthfully I haven't messed around with it much! I just like it for drawing, it makes these really fun shapes!

Here's a link if you want to try it out for yourself!

This probabaly seems like a silly way to plan out an illustration especially since I'm planning on adding at least a simple background to this, but I've found it's kind of nice to be able to establish a sort of shape that the characters can occupy in the composition and then build the environment around them in a way that complements their movements.

I don't really know much about the Castlevania series to be honest, but I've always appreciated the art from the game series and I'm familiar with the gothic visual tropes they play off of so I'm going to be enjoying making some chunky cobblestone environment around them with some dramatic candlelight probably :)

Finally, check the attachment if you'd like to see the current timelapse of this process! I can't help but be a little self conscious when recording these things because I know I'm perpetually making mistakes and then only course correcting later, which conflicts with my prideful idea of myself where I don't like to make mistakes in front of people.

That said, I really appreciate your support and so I'm happy to show you my faltering, clumsy creative choices.🙇‍♂️ I'm convinced that being a happy craftsperson/artist is more about elegantly handling your mistakes than avoiding them.
