I'm having flashbacks to working on Trico haha. I do love feather work! Got out an estimated amount and spent all day airbrushing them. 

Built up the colors through several varying layers. The Phillipine eagle feathers are an ivory base, warm brown blushing and a dark brown inner stripe. 

I need to edit videos tomorrow unfortunately so these will sit to dry over the weekend and I'l start installation next week. So exited for that part! 

I've been testing paint on feathers for awhile leading up to this. I'm using golden acrylics which are known for colorfastness. I washed feathers painted with this paint and method twice a day for 2 weeks w/ soap and water. Could barely notice fading if any. They'll need to be treated just like airbrushed fur, but can stand up to washing when it's needed.
